Story
We would like to welcome Peanut to the rescue! Our transporter volunteer Ted picked Peanut up at a shelter just north of Dayton, Ohio. He is now temporarily fostered in Covington, Kentucky, and will be moving to his assigned foster this week. Peanut is such a wonderful sweet little guy. His owner passed away of old age, and he was surrendered by a relative because he wasn’t working out with their family. They asked he be euthanized because he bit one of their kids, however the shelter could see Peanut is not an aggressive dog. So they called KDR to give him a second chance. He hasn’t shown aggression while in our care at all or tried to bite. Peanut is estimated to be around 10 or so, and he does have some extra weight on him. Picking him up is awkward, but doable. We are guessing he has lost a little weight since arriving to us, but it is clear his belly has suffered some irritation as he has some calloused areas on his underbelly. But he loves to roll over and do the doxie dance we all know! 😂 Peanut loves to play, loves toys and chews, and gets along well with other dogs! He doesn’t really like to be held/picked up unless he instigates it (ha!). He loves to play with our dogs, or just lay around, or by your side. I actually do think he would be okay with older kids as long as they are respectful of dogs and their need for space. But in general he would be a great companion for someone who is home regularly - he is potty trained however due to older age and his weight I do think he needs to go out more regularly - and what dog doesn’t love having a buddy around. Welcome Peanut! 🥜💕PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE www.kentuckydachshundrescue.com and look under The Dog Log tab foR ADOPTION INFO AND ADOPTION FEES======= We are not processing adoptions until after Christmas but you can still fill out the forms.
