Hello everyone, my name is Cora and I am a 3 year old female Flat Coated Retriever mix. I am a very beautiful jet black girl with a heart of gold. I currently weigh about 60lbs and won't be getting any bigger. I have not had the best past. Something happened to me that did a lot of damage to my left hind leg. I was forced to live with the pain for many months, maybe even closer to a year. I barely even used it any more as it caused me a lot of pain. I started hiding it behind my right leg when I walked. I ended up finding myself in the shelter, and on deathrow because of my injured leg. Thankfully this rescue stepped up for me. At first, the vet was worried my leg couldn't be saved. It was an older injury, probably caused from being hit by a car. I even cried out if you just moved my tail. Thankfully, it was determined that he could fix my leg and I went into surgery and now everything is back where it should be! Now my only problem is being able to use it again. I got so used to never setting it down and walking on three legs, that I am reluctant to start using it again. Even with exercises I am still not wanting to use it, but at least now I am no longer in pain. And hopefully in time I will start building strength back in that leg.
I am the kind of girl that you can fall madly in love with. I have an amazing personality, and am as sweet as they come. I do good when meeting new people and am friendly and calm. I walk well on a leash, and do well on car rides. You may have to help me in though. I get along with everyone and everything. I am good with other dogs, and cats. I have not been around any kids, but since I have a very gentle personality think I would be fine with them as long as they are gentle with me. I am potty trained, and have not attempted to chew on anything. I am given free roam of the house at night and when my fosters are sleeping and do excellent. I have never needed to be kenneled and would prefer a home that doesn't kennel since I don't need to be.
I have a very laid back personality. I do like going outside and exploring sometimes, but most of the time I am back at the door wanting to come back inside. I love to be wherever you are and will often plop down by your feet. I love attention, but I am not pushy about it. I have a very soft coat, and am just in heaven when you pet me. I have not really attempted to play with toys yet.
I am the kind of girl that would fit into just about any home. I would prefer that my new home be quieter, I am not really a big player so a home with another calmer dog for companionship would be awesome. Although, I believe I would also be fine as an only dog. My adoption fee is $225 and that will include my vaccinations, spay, and micro-chip. That also includes my FHO surgery and ehrlichia treatment. I will also be current on my heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
