Story
Ranger is a handsome fellow! He will appreciate a kindhearted guardian who interacts with him in gentle and positive ways. Ranger is active and would enjoy having a backyard to romp around in and perhaps another dog to play with. HSBV will only rehome him to a family with children aged 10 or older due to guarding behavior around his food bowl and favorite toys.

Story
Whenever a sweet and engaging Golden Retriever or Cocker Spaniel mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are loving, super-smart and make great family members. They fit so well into a household and make great companions for all age groups . Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy as rehoming is a very scary process....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides, nurturing, love and belly rubs and they will shine. Arri is one of these dogs...while initially just a bit worried, she quickly becomes a very gentle girl with humans of all ages. Her current foster family has two grandchildren ages 2 and 4 and she's wonderful with them..loving and very cuddly is Arri's role with kids. Arri's foster family has provided us with the following information on our sweet and kind girl: Arri is wonderful with our human family members! She is 100% house trained and in the time she's been with us, there has never been an accident indoors. We have a dog door that Arri uses proficiently. She enjoys her belly rubs tremendously and loves to be in the same room as her humans..a very loyal best friend for sure! Our foster diva enjoys her multiple pillows and loves to sleep on the bed with us at night (admittedly a bed hog :-). Arri doesn't fetch but enjoys playing with squeaky toys with a smile on her beautiful face! Fortunately Arri rides very well in our car/truck..we've already enjoyed adventures with Arri and she's a great companion and so much fun to be with! She never tries to leap out the window or bark at passing cars...she simply loves our company and is so happy to spend time together. Arri is so into her walks! We hike early in the morning when there no other dogs around and go a long, long way..she loves that! We've loved every mile with Arri...all of us enjoying the outdoors and being together. Arri seems to enjoy being brushed and patiently tolerates nail trims. We feed twice daily at our house and Arri is happy to receive and enjoy her meal. So..the bottom line on this girl is that she's an excellent companion and loyal best friend for humans and is a joy to be with. The challenges that Arri suffers are twofold...first, we know that her previous family meant well but were ill-advised. Arri had a fear response to other dogs from the time she arrived at their home. While Farfel's had no knowledge of it, we educate all adopters about positive reinforcement training. They went instead with a referral to a trainer that uses prong & shock collars (Farfel's is happy to provide the names of these trainers as those to never support). We also know that these collars work by causing pain. So over time and through the pain of wearing these collars everyday, Arri became more fearful when confronted by other dogs..and therefore more reactive. We're searching for a savvy home for our sweet Arri where she can learn proper behaviors with patience, kindness and reward. Before her new behaviors are second nature to Arri, we're searching for a family that will love and nurture her with an understanding that she does better in human company for right now. A fun game in the backyard, early morning or evening hikes and a car ride to an adventure would be right down Arri's alley. We'd like to place Arri in a home with either active retirees or a younger family that works from home or just part-time. They must love spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Arri will shine for a family that truly loves and respects her..and would never consider causing her pain in any way. They will help to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside of this gorgeous Golden Retriever mix. Arri has a stunning, cottony-soft coat that reminds us of that of a super-healthy Golden. She will require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths and great nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care to keep Arri's hair super-healthy, cottony-soft and shining. Arri is in a home in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Arri please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

***PLEASE NOTE: Due to Covid-19, our shop is currently closed, so no one is there to answer phone calls. Please fill out an application here if interested in one of our dogs: https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and for any questions, you can email us directly at farfelsrescue@gmail.com *** Huskies are amazing companions - They’re fluffy and cuddly and oh so smart! Astro is 2 year old, and weighs 35 pounds, so he is just a tad bit smaller than an average husky male. Huskies are loyal, playful, and so sweet. Astro is the same, he is a happy boy who thrives off of love and affection.Astro has a great temperament and just wants to find his forever home. Astro was rescued from the streets of New Mexico, and Farfel’s swooped him up right away! Astro is healthy, and up to date on all of his shots. His coat is so beautiful and thick and shiny, and to keep it that way she will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement along with 5 star food is recommended for excellent general health and to keep his coat silky-soft and very healthy. Astro has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion - he will form quick bonds with his people (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through the love of an excellent family. Farfel's feels that it's very important for these great families to attend positive reinforcement/force-free socialization class followed by level 1 group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a truly bonded dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel so strongly about every dog being given this training opportunity that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose training. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. We aren't open to Astro being left alone for long hours while his family works full-time outside of the home. Therefore retirees, those who work from home, part-time or at a pet-friendly workplace would be perfect for this very loving and loyal best friend. Astro will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Hershey’s neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Astro will be arriving on transport in Denver most likely Saturday April 4th. Applications are currently being accepted for this gorgeous and very sweet and loving best friend. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/.
