Story
Age: Approximately 3 years old Weight: 72lbs Dog friendly: Yes, with proper introduction Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: When properly introduced Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Unknown ***FENCED YARD REQUIRED*** Hello! My name is Lewis but I am often called Lou If you are looking for a friend to watch whatever shows you want on tv I am your guy! If you are looking for someone that loves to chill on the couch with then I am your guy! If you are looking for someone to take walks with or even go for a jog with them I am also your guy as I love to go on walks! I love my humans and get attached to them, so it would be best if I was your one and only fur baby! I do like kids but have never been around real little kids so you may have to watch that I don’t knock them over as I would feel bad. I would love to be with someone who isn’t gone all the time as I will miss them so much. I roam free when my humans are gone and do fine with that, although I do have a habit of counter surfing so its best if you do not leave any food on the counter for me to snack on. I am told that I am the sweetest boy and would love to find my forever home so you can see that too. Lou Adoption Fee: $495

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Name: Diamond DOB: 11/23/2017 Weight: 55 Adoption Fee: 375.00   Hey everyone! My name is Diamond. I have quite the story to tell you! I was brought to a shelter in Texas by a family whose land I had been living on with a few other dogs for about a month (Thats me in the little kennel that I was brought to the shelter in) This nice family started to feed me and my friends so they could help us, but I ended up being the only dog that was able to be caught by this family. When I ended up at the shelter I was covered in fleas and had this thing called mange that made some of my fur come off. I felt terrified and defeated and had no idea what my life was going to be like all alone without my buddies. Despite all of that, I was incredibly sweet just cautious with everyone. Ruff Start was in the right place at the right time and knew I was the perfect guy for such a big event. I was scooped up by one of Ruff Starts Texas fosters, who showed me so much love, patience and treated me for fleas and manage. She also introduced me to her resident senior dog and another foster. We all became friends right away. I learned to walk on a leash and go potty on our walks next to my new friends. When my foster buddy left for his forever home, it made me sad but my foster mom gave me extra love and treats. Then the day for my transport arrived, I felt a little uneasy on the ride to the shelter, but my foster mom told me everything was going to be ok and I trusted her so I began to relax. She boarded me on a big bus to MN a few minutes later and we were on our way. Since arriving in MN I have been learning everything about being a dog. I am pretty shy and skittish around new people , especially men but I love cheeseburgers and summer sausage so i'm starting to learn that people are ok. I am potty and crate trained and do well in there as long as I can sleep next to my foster parents bed at night and during the day next to another dog in their crate. I get a little scared that i'm all by myself if left alone. Speaking of other animals, I LOVE them and look to them for confidence and how I should act, and play. I will need other confident resident animal(s) to continue to show me the way. I enjoy both dogs and cats and would love a few of my very own to grow up with. I am very gentle, but I would prefer older/respectful kids as loud noises and sudden movements can scare me. I will need a fenced in yard to keep me safe from exploring this big world on my own again. I am learning how to play with toys, but still grab the occasional remote, rug, or shoe so i'll need someone to continue to show me what toys are mine. I enjoy my food and haven't been silly about it, but I should still be fed separate from others since I did have to fend for myself for a while. I share all my toys so nicely with my foster siblings! I love to cuddle up on the couch with my foster mom and siblings and would make a great couch buddy. I am just soaking up being indoors, loved, fed and cared for, its been such a relief from my past. I am working on my manners but would love to go to obedience class to learn even more. My skin is healing and looks better and better but I cant wait to have all my beautiful fur back!   I am part of a promotional piece that the rescue is doing until March 28th so I will need to remain in the rescue as a foster until that time. I will need a family that will continue to work with gaining my confidence and continuing to teach me what being a dog means. If you are my perfect family please submit an adoption application to get some more information about me and my story.   My Must haves: A non electric fenced in yard (because I am easily frightened I'm a high risk for running off) , Confident companion dog (I rely heavily for confidence) , female in the household (I find females less frightening) , Patient home (I will need a good 6 months to settle in)   My Would likes: Cat (I love to play with them, i'm gentle) , Older kids ( I would love for them to throw a ball for me, but I do still have puppy tendencies) , Active home (I'm high energy, I would like to go for walks/runs) , Obedience Training (To boost my confidence and build trust with my new person)   An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal.  Please check out our website, www.ruffstartrescue.org for more details and additional pictures on any of our animals! All Ruff Start dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention (dogs) as well as heartworm tested (dogs). Ruff Start Rescue is a foster based rescue. Animals are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a facility where animals are kept. Harry's back was broken when he lived in Texas. Theories abound but what we do know is that his owner never got him medical care and the damage is done. The good news is that he is safe in Rescue, has seen a specialist at the U. He was fitted for a doggie wheel chair and he's waiting for delivery. This 7 to 12 month old Golden Retriever would like a forever family for Christmas. His wheel hair will go with him, of course. Families that wish to apply for adoption need to be willing to first spend the day at hospitals foster home to learn what his care needs are. Harry will never walk and he will never have control of his "bathroom functions". He need exercise time in his wheel chair and "quiet time out of his wheelchair. He'll need a daily bath and he's BIG. Now, wheelie pups bring their own joy, that's for sure. You can see more of Harry and hiss wheelie pup friends, Ajax and Sasha on Emotional Rescue's Facebook page. To meet Harry, please fill out an adoption application at emotionalrescuemn.org.
