Story
Captain –Male – 7-years-old – GRRALL #0761 Captain Update 12/6/2019:    Captain is doing great, he went from a medical emergency rescue to a happy goofy boy, but as an only pet, the King of the Mansion, inside and out.   It is amazing Captain survived his heath scares.  He is now blind in one eye due to untreated high blood pressure and heartworm positive but due to other issues not treated in the usual way; he is medically stable.  Captain was in a phenomenal foster home and was doing very well but is now looking for a new foster or permanent placement as his Foster Dad is having surgery and will be unable to care for him.  Captain’s foster family says he bonded with them immediately and loves his daily routines; he eats well and loves to roll in the grass after breakfast.  He is very polite, learns fast, house-trained, does not counter-surf, and is fine alone in the home uncrated when his humans were away.  Captain is a cuddler, loves ear rubs and belly scratches, and is a dedicated and loyal friend.    Captain will make a wonderful companion for an adopter who accepts he must be the only pet. ### Update 7/2/19: Captain is recovering well from the surgery. He is a very sweet boy and has a great personality. He loves people and loves being right next to you. His favorite thing is being petted. He hasn't met a human he didn't like! We are looking for a foster home (or foster-to-adopt home) with no other pets for Captain at this time. He appears to be house broken and he is very treat motivated so training him with commands should be easy! If you are interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt Captain please let us know! ###Captain update:  June 22, 2019:  Captain is doing much better!   Our boy had a grapefruit sized stone removed from his bladder, and he is still at our vet recovering.  The big wound on his head is also recovering nicely.   Captain is a total love-bug, he loves all people and likes to get close and snuggle, loves scratches, and loves treats.  For now Captain needs to be an only dog.  He was great at the shelter but not so much at a foster home, but he had also just had major surgery a few days prior so we always err on the conservative side.  ###Captain is safe now, thanks to our GRRALL Emergency Response Team.  Captain was found as a stray, in dire need of emergency medical care, far more than what the shelter could offer.  The shelter contacted GRRALL and thanks to our phenomenal and dedicated volunteers, Captain was sprung, smothered with kisses, and is now beginning his recovery at our vet. Captain is a 60 pound very handsome golden mix boy, about seven-years-old.  Captain was found with open wounds on his head and leg, along with some bladder issues.  Captain has obviously been neglected, still intact, not leash trained, in desperate need of some spa time, but is adorably sweet and gentle and so happy to be around caring people.   Captain’s luck has turned, he was saved by GRRALL and most amazing is heartworm negative.   We will update Captain’s progress as he begins to heal. If you are interested in adopting Captain or any GRRALL dog, please read our FAQs (https://grralliance.org/faq/) and then submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/ GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. We do not have the resources to adopt outside this region and do not ship dogs. Story
Teddy (Rebel) – Male – 6 years old – GRRALL #0578 Teddy was adopted about two years ago from GRRALL. He was living the good life with his family. They traveled all over in an RV, and he has been to so many destinations. Unfortunately, his human dad unexpectedly passed away and his human mom is not able to continue his care. Teddy is again looking for an adopter to make him part of their family. Teddy is a Golden/Pyr mix. He is a tall boy and weighs about 75 lbs. Because of his large size, he would do best in a home with older children. Smaller kiddos could be easily knocked over by such a big boy. He obviously does great in the car since he has traveled around so much and is house trained. He isn't terribly playful, but he does have a favorite toy that he likes. Teddy will need a little bit of leash training as he gets worked up when he sees other dogs while on walks. He would very much be happy just hanging out at home with his people. Teddy gets along great with the cat in his home. He does well around other dogs in his home when they are over visiting. He doesn’t like to share his food, treats, or toys so probably would prefer to stay an only dog. Who wouldn’t want to be the center of attention? Teddy makes for a good guard dog because of his deep bark when he sees people approach the house. It's all an act, however, as he loves visitors and is friendly when people come over. Teddy is just a big old teddy bear and a total lovebug. He just wants to be with his people and get lots of attention and pats. We will be doing private meet and greets for Teddy since he gets a bit worked up around other dogs on leash. If you are interested in adopting Teddy or any GRRALL dog, please read our FAQs (https://grralliance.org/faq/) and then submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/ GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. We do not have the resources to adopt outside this region and do not ship dogs. Story
Dakota – Female – 10-years old – GRRALL #0776 Welcome beautiful Dakota to GRRALL!  Our new girl is an owner surrender, left behind when her people moved.  This gorgeous girl is about 10 years old and an absolute sweetheart.  She made herself at home in her new foster home immediately, and gets along great with the permanent dog Buddy.  Dakota loves to go for walks, never had an accident, is friendly, and very smart.  When Dakota wants a treat she goes and sits by the treat jar, and so far it works!  She likes to sleep on the couch, which is allowed by her foster family.  When the humans return home Dakota cries with happiness.   Our little angel does have some skin issues and an ear infection, but healing nicely.  Despite being 10-years old Dakota wasn’t spayed, but on the schedule as soon as her current round of antibiotics is complete.   Thankfully she is heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Dakota or any GRRALL dog, please read our FAQs (https://grralliance.org/faq/) and then submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/ GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. Story
Emma – Female – 6-years-old - #0785 Welcome owner surrender Emma, almost 6-years old, 52 lbs, and gorgeous!  Emma was surrendered as she was food aggressive around a small dog and young children.  Like most goldens Emma is very intelligent and standard basic training would be good for her.  Owner reports she is good with children, dogs, cats, and a happy girl.  Emma has been well cared for, spayed and current on all vaccinations and thankfully heartworm negative.   She will spend some time in her foster home and then be ready to make her Meet and Greet debut.  If you are interested in adopting Emma or any GRRALL dog, please read our FAQs (https://grralliance.org/faq/) and then submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/ GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. Story
Henry – Male – 10-years-old - #0784 Henry is the story we all need to hear, a phenomenal transformation in just a few weeks, unrecognizable from his intake pictures.  Our handsome 10-year-old Henry found himself at a local shelter, in shockingly bad condition.  Teeth worn down to the gums, exposed roots, so matted and filthy he had to be shaved, poor muscle strength from lack of nutrition, eye infections and vision impairment, and heartworm positive.  Despite everything our 67 pound Henry was a doll, an absolute joy with the shelter workers, loving and affectionate with the GRRALL volunteers who rescued him.  He spent the freedom ride with his head in the volunteer’s lap, happy, calm and relaxed.  Henry adjusted to his foster home immediately and his huge SMILE and his clean, fluffy, gorgeous body say it all.  He is quite playful and spunky, enjoying life and his foster family. Henry will spend some time with his foster family recovering and getting as healthy as possible.  We will update his progress as he learns what it is like to be loved and adored, with the care and treatment he deserves. If you are interested in adopting Henry or any GRRALL dog, please read our FAQs (https://grralliance.org/faq/) and then submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/ GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area.
