Story
Mr. Simon was originally adopted from us and was returned as the adopter has gotten a seeing eye dog and the two of them weren't getting along.  He was part of a litter of Great Dane/Lab mix puppies.  The updates we have gotten from the other pups indicate that most of them got the Great Dane size - he really did not.  He is closer to the size of a lab.  He is very sweet and affectionate.  He is almost a year old.  He is neutered and now up to date on all of his shots.  There were older kids in the house and he did great with them.  He has lots of energy - which is pretty normal for an 11 month old dog.  He is housebroken.  Has not lived with cats.  He is looking for a new family to call his own.  His adoption fee will be $225.00.  If interested in Simon please go to our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and complete an adoption application and once approved come and meet him. ##599437##

Good with dogs, Needs special attention, House-trained,
Story
Fred is a happy, nearly 2-year-old Great Dane who has no concept of his size.  He has lived with other dogs and done well with them, and he would do well with other large, non-aggressive dogs after an appropriate introduction.  Fred knows "sit" and "lay down" and will easily learn more since he is very treat motivated and eager to learn. He loves carrying around his blankies, playing with toys, and going for "sniff walks" where he can explore new things.  He doesn't enjoy car rides.  He is crate-trained and housebroken although he may experience nervious peeing in new or exciting situations. Fred will need several meetings before he is okay with potential adopters because he is so fearful of new situations. He eventually might be okay with another dog because he has done well with resident dogs but that will take a slow introduction, as well.  The perfect home for Fred will be with an individual or couple with no children or an older individual or couple who have no young children.  After an appropriate introduction, he would do well with another non-aggressive dog that is medium to large size, but he would also enjoy being an only-dog and having all of the attention for himself.  He needs a fenced yard where he can get some exercise.  A 4-foot fence is adequate.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that a dog is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home.  This means that our exposure to the dog is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet.  If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. The suggested adoption donation for Fred is $250.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
