Prospective adopters must be able to travel to San Antonio to complete the adoption process. ** Wendy is a 2-year-old Great Dane who weighs approximately 100 pounds. Wendy is a playful girl who gets along great with everyone she meets. Her ideal home would also have another large dog who enjoys playing as well. Wendy has been diagnosed with heartworm infection. Dogs acquire heartworm infections when they are bitten by a mosquito that was infected with heartworm larvae. Dogs with heartworm infection live happy, high quality lives as long as they are given appropriate care. Heartworm infection is relatively common in the United States so we are in need of caring adopters like you that are willing to open their home to a dog with heartworm infection. We think that our heartworm dogs have just as much to offer their new adopters as any other dog and they deserve a chance at life. Adopters will receive all the necessary medications needed to complete the heartworm treatment protocol. Please understand you are commiting to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Her adoption fee is $350. This includes her spay surgery, DhPPv vaccination, rabies vaccination, deworming, 6-months of Coraxis®, microchip, leash and collar, and 30-days of pet health insurance. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org. Our group focuses on assisting open admission shelters in South Texas where over 32,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year.Our puppies and dogs are completely vetted and live in foster homes. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for heartworm disease.All adoptions include one month of flea and heartworm preventative, leash and collar, and a 30-day trial of 24PetWatch Pet Insurance.
