Story
Welcome Lazarus. He is a 2-year-old Great Dane/Shepherd. He is a big boy at about 80 pounds. He loves his foster dad and would make a great companion for a family. He would be best with an active family and could be with kids over 7 due to his size. He would be best in a fenced yard so he could be off leash for some of his play time. He is good on a leash, potty trained, good with other dogs and ready for his forever home. He is athletic and healthy and would love to be with an outdoorsy family. He is up on his shots, neutered and looking for love. He is in Texas in a foster home. He lives with teenagers, other dogs that are big and small. He is crated in the evening and does fine in a crate. He can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to deliver him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 200 and transport is 185. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to maudreyh@aol.com for an application. See his cute video!!

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.LOCATED IN ARKANSAS! Transport to the northeast is available. Please visit www.alphadogtransport.com and click on 'our stops' to see if they offer a pick up location near you. Adoption fee $400 Transport fee $140. 3/16/20 Duchess is a gorgeous Great Dane who was owner surrendered. The owners were back yard breeders and Duchess was a pup from a previous litter that didn't sell. Now they have a new litter and didn't want her any more. She was living in a very small outdoor pen with the mama dog and the mama dog had begun to fight her. Duchess has a lump under one of her eyes, along the side of her nose, that is the result of being bitten by the mama dog. :( It was a very sad situation. Duchess is only 11 months old. She is extremely affectionate and loving. She adores all people. She is selective with other dogs. She has made friends with a couple of the other dogs here at our rescue and is doing well with them, playing with them daily. But she does not like many of the other dogs here - the stronger personalities. She seems to do fine with submissive dogs, but if she is challenged she will not back down. We are working on that. She is very trainable and with a professional trainer could probably learn to co exist with any other dogs. Sadly, Duchess was never given heartworm preventive and she did test positive for heartworms. She will need to be treated before she can leave the state of Arkansas. Treatment is very expensive for a dog her size and we are hoping to be able to get her treatment soon. Donations are appreciated! Duchess has so much love to give to her family. She just needs a family that won't expect her to be best friends with every dog she meets, and will be content with her not being the type of dog to take to dog parks, etc. She LOVES to play with toys and will fetch all day long. She also loves to play with the dogs that she has made friends with. She is well over 100 lbs and is still growing. She will probably be 130-150lbs once fully mature. She is great on leash but does still pull some. She is crate trained and has never had an accident in her crate.
