Story
Denver is a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix, born in February, 2015. He is an anxious dog whose current home isn't working out for him because children make him nervous. Even adults (especially men) make him nervious if they try to approach him too quickly or have a loud voice. In spite of his nervousness, Denver has never as much as threatened to harm anyone; instead, he retreats to a safe place and barks. If visitors ignore him, Denver will eventually warm up to them, but it has to be done on his terms. When conditions are calm, he will relax and is a lover who tries to be a lap dog. He loves being brushed, and when he gets his belly rubbed, he typically falls asleep; however, if you stop petting him, he will paw at you to continue. He has never been aggressive toward another dog, and he loves to meet new dog friends. He playfully chases cats but has never hurt one. He knows several commands and walks well on a leash if there isn't noise and traffic. He is housebroken.
Denver needs a quiet home and a patient owner with no children and not many visitors. He will do best in a women-only household. He would love a home in the country where it is quiet and there is little traffic. He needs a fenced yard, and he does bark so understanding neighbors are necessary. He would love to have another dog or cat for companionship.
The suggested adoption donation for Denver is $350. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes.
Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.
Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs. If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
