Story
Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. TogoBreed: HuskyAge: 3 yrs.Gender: M, neuteredWgt/Hgt: 51 lbs / 22 inches Activity level: high energyRelations: not good with other dogs / not good with cats Highlights: friendly, strong, resilient, athletic, energeticRegion: Middle East “We are young, heartache to heartache, we stand… life is a battle field…” Wait! I think I got the lyrics wrong. Anyway, it’s true, you know? Life is a battle field for some dogs like me. But it didn’t stop me. I am strong and resilient, and still have a nice demeanor you’d enjoy being around.  My name’s Togo. As you can see from the pics, I had a rough time before being rescued. I suffered unspeakable abuse and when I was found as a stray, the nice people who saved me had to take me to vet who said I needed to undergo surgery. I had a wire wrapped around my muzzle, and it looked pretty bad. (The original photos are extremely graphic and are available upon request.) My story isn’t one I like remembering much, and my rescuers don’t have the details either. They think I was stolen or abandoned, but I can’t remember anymore. All there is now from that awful past are the scars I bare. But those are battle scars; they are proof of my courage and bravery.  I’ve undergone two surgeries already to fix my mouth area and I’m still standing strong and handsome. Look at my eyes and they’ll tell you all you need to know. I’m waiting for a third surgery to get a portion of my upper jaw fixed, and we’re optimistic. Yes, my majestic coat was shaved off to keep me cool after surgery. It will all grow back though. I didn’t come this far to not find my perfect home in Canada, right? Since I’m not used to having a real family, I don’t know how to walk on a leash, but I’m sure I’ll learn as soon as I start taking walks with you. Who can resist going out to have fun? I do like people, adults are my favorite! They’re the ones I enjoy spending time with. They get me. But I don’t do well with other dogs nor do I with cats. And my friends here think I’d be better living in a home with no children. I’m friendly with them, but maybe not to be around at all times. I certainly need a lot of love and attention to make the transition smoother, so being the only one at home would be of great help. But hey, we can share some great moments doing things grownups do, can’t we? My energy level is high. I mean, I’m a husky after all. So I’d be the perfect companion for exercising and for as many great adventures as you can imagine, like going to the park or to get some groceries. That sounds fantastic! I really want to explore the wonders of the world that I haven’t been able to see. Would you let me be that companion for you? I’ll be ready to fly as soon as everything goes back to normal. You can help me heal all the scars in my soul with your love and I’ll make sure to fill your life with the strength and happiness you have never experienced. Let’s have the time of our lives together, discovering new grounds of happiness and affection.  I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada. Story
Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hey there, my name is Jammy and I can't wait to meet you. I am a 7 month-old Husky/Jindo mix from South Korea weighing in at 24lb and 19 inches tall. I was born at one of the notorious dog meat farms in Pyoungtaek.  Thankfully, I was rescued by KAWA, the biggest animal rights organization in Korea, with my five other siblings and my momma.  We were all in pretty bad shape at the time of our rescue. (As you can imagine, our welfare is not important since the plan is to slaughter us for meat.) In fact, every one of us was found to have parvovirus and our lives were at risk. Sadly, despite immediate veterinary treatment, our mom didn't make it, but the rest of us came through the other side and are all 100% healthy and ready to find out what life has to offer. My brothers Dodger, Dilbert and I are hopeful that we'll find homes in B.C or Washington. They sound like such great places for a dog to live. I am best described as initially cautious, but very sweet.  Meeting new people can be a little intimidating for me at first so I like to take my time. However, if you have a yummy treat in your hand I must confess that I am easily won over. I do like my 'yum-yums', as they call them here. Children are interesting little people who are nice to be around, especially when they offer me yum-yums: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLn0C_M3CRM&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFtT4qvVIAuUQSDZUFo9-Xw&index=4 When meeting other dogs I am polite and curious, especially with those that are smaller than me. With bigger dogs I am much happier around the calm types, those more like myself; the hyper ones make me nervous and uncomfortable. My life hasn't really allowed for much playtime with other dogs until now, so I think it's something I will grow into as I gain experience. Maybe you and I can meet some of your friends dogs together and I can discover the joy of doggy-play. They introduced me to some cats here at the shelter. I was curious but completely without aggression so I would probably be fine to share a home with a feline friend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XM76mBgAxY&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFtT4qvVIAuUQSDZUFo9-Xw&index=7 In terms of my energy level, so far I seem to be more on the calm, low to moderate end of the spectrum; at least when compared to other dogs of my age. But that may just be because, until now, I haven't had much opportunity to be playful and active. I am trying to imagine what my life will be like when someone adopts me. Will I get to sleep in a special bed? Will you talk to me like you love me? And spend our days together as best friends? It's just too beautiful to contemplate.   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $600 includes my airfare to Canada. Story
Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Loofah (Lucas)Breed: HuskyAge: 4 yrsGender: m, neuteredWgt/Hgt: 66 lbs / 23-1/2 inchesEnergy level: Moderate to fairly activeRelations: good with dogs / unknown kids, catsHighlights: smart, loves playing ball, bit food protective, avoids touch until comfortable then will even sleep with you, bit leery of strange men yet, responsive to training, house trained, good leash walkerRegion: Middle East Do you like being pampered with softness? Then I'm your fluffy guy. I am a lover of play and have an eager mind to learn. Life is not good for dogs here in my country. A bad owner kept me in a small garden without shelter and not fed often. I was also all alone. That is hard emotionally on a pack animal, especially a husky. They knew nothing about my breed and thought I was a guard dog type. When my rescuer got me, I had wounds on my body and legs and my collar was cutting into my skin.  Know, I am a happy boy. I really enjoy playing with other dogs, but I haven't been around cats or kids. Oh, and ball playing, that is another fun pastime. I am rather possessive of my food and will grumble and bare my teeth to let other dogs know it is mine. My rescuer is working on this and I am improving & eating my food where the other dogs are now. Upon first meeting I tend to jump in your face and bark. Once I get to know who you are, I start smiling at you. During the first couple days, I often won't let someone touch me. But start giving me treats and playing ball with me, then we are best of friends. In fact, I will probably be asking you to touch me and even want to sleep in bed with you. I'm not fond of strange men taking hold of my collar/leash and will show a snarl and maybe bang my mouth on them as a warning. It is not a bite though. It just worries me until I get to know them. Likely this is due to something that happened to me. Once I realize you won't let any harm come to me, that should dissipate with training. If I do something wrong, they just say no bad boy. (In Persian, of course) and I then I will sit and try to shake paws with you. If I am cute and flash my brown eyes at you, how could you get upset with me? I am quite smart, as us Huskies tend to be. My energy is moderate to fairly active, as most Huskies are, so an active to moderately active home would suit me. If you had a yard, that would be great, but if not some hikes would be super too. Just plenty of exercise is needed for the likes of us legendary breeds.  I know to do my business outside and do well with leash walking. I am a perky boy and would love to live with another dog as a playmate.  My rescuer had me fully checked, bloodwork and all and I am fully healthy   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.  My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
