Story
Meet Aurora! Aurora came to us recently and is very ready to start the next chapter of her life. Aurora is a nervous girl who may take a bit of time to adjust to her new surroundings and become trusting of her new human/s. Aurora is a sweet girl and did very well in her previous home and will likely do well in her next as long as she and her new people are set up for success in her new home. Aurora is a strong girl who likes to take her human/s for a walk so you can expect nice muscles after the first couple weeks with her! Aurora would love to meet you and learn more about if she is a good fit for your home today! If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.

Story
Turkey arrived to the shelter after her owner had passed away. She came in with other dogs and they had lived together previously. During her time in the shelter Turkey has become a little stressed and has become reactive towards some dogs. This could be a result of shelter stress, but we highly encourage a dog meet and greet prior to adoption if you have other dogs in your home! Turkey is very sweet and outgoing. She has done great with meeting new people and is easy to handle! Turkey has enjoyed running through the snow and has medium energy. She would thrive best with regular exercise! Turkey is potty trained and walks well on a leash. She doesn’t appear to know many cues, but she is redirected easily and treat motivated! Turkey has a great personality and could make such a fun companion for the right person! If you believe your home would be a good fit for Turkey we encourage you to come by and meet her!

Berry Bear is a very sweet and affectionate dog. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but is very loyal once she gets to know you! Bear is a big cuddler and likes to stay close to her people. She does great with handling and had done well with the small children in her previous home! Bear does good with other dogs and likes to play with them! She has a mellow and laid back personality. We can always accommodate a dog meet and greet if needed! Bear is potty trained and will go to the door when she needs to outside. Bear is usually crated when left alone because she can be destructive towards household item, but is usually on her best behavior when she has plenty of toys to choose from! Bear also walks well on a leash and knows the cues `sit`, `stay`, `down`, `off`, `come` and `no`. Bear has a gentle soul and is so so sweet. Story
Sam McGee arrived to the shelter as a stray and unfortunately was not claimed by his owner. He was brought into the shelter with another dog and they got along well, but it is unknown if they lived together previously. Sam has not been reactive towards other dogs in the shelter and appears to want to play with them! We can always accommodate a dog meet and greet if needed. Sam has been easy going and friendly towards everyone he’s met! He loves attention and is very sweet. Sam appears to be potty trained, walks well on a leash and knows a couple basic cues. He will thrive best with regular exercise and enjoys having the opportunity to play outside each day! It is unknown if Sam has lived with children so we encourage you to bring your little ones with you when you come to meet him!

Story
Jackson was both an indoor and outdoor dog in his previous home. He spent about half his time outside and is used to using a doggy door! Jackson is potty trained, walks well on a leash and knows the cues `sit`, `stay`, `down`, `come` and `off`. Jackson attended some dog training classes in his previous home and did amazingly. His owner was devastated to have to bring him back to the shelter and wanted to make sure that who ever adopted him knew that they were getting a really great dog! Jackson was only left alone at night and was not destructive. He loves to chew on his toys and will need a variety of them. Jackson loves to explore and go on adventures. He is outgoing, friendly and playful- making him a great adventure buddy! Jackson loves attention and was reported to do well with children! He CAN become cautious around children that are screaming and do not respect his boundaries. He has been friendly when meeting new people and loves attention. Jackson has done well with other dogs and lived with a dog in his most recent home. He does best with dogs who are chill, but will be reactive if the other dog is acting aggressively towards him. We can always accommodate a dog meet and greet if needed! Jackson did not live with cats in his most recent home, but from previous information given to us Jackson did well with cats, but did not do well with other small animals. Like we mentioned above, Jackson is a really great dog and we are hoping to find him the best home. If you believe your home would be a good fit for Jackson please come by and meet him!
