Story
Hi my name is Tigger! I got that name because I sure can jump. I came to Almost Home after I was found running as a stray and ended up at the pound and no one came for me. I am good with other dogs, but haven't been around cats or kids. I am a very high energy boy and would do best in an active home.

Story
Hi, my name is Shine! I'm about 7-1/2 years old and I originally came to Almost Home as a stray in August 2022. I was adopted for a while but I was returned in July 2023. I went to the doctor to look at the cataracts in my eyes, and they said that as I get older, I will most likely go completely blind - I guess it happens a lot in dogs who look like me. Don't worry though, I will still be able to live a long and happy life with my new family! I'm not a huge fan of the smaller humans, and I will do best as an only pet in my forever home. I'm up to date on my shots, spayed and microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. I'm sitting here waiting for my forever home to come along... do you think yours could be it?

Story
Hi there, my name is Binx! I came to Almost Home because a member of my family was dealing with health issues and could no longer take care of me. I am very friendly and affectionate! I can be dog selective because I think I'm a Queen, but I do like to play once I'm friends with other dogs. My friends at the shelter say I might need to be without cats but you never know maybe me and your cat could be friends as well. My previous owners have referred to me as an "escape artist," so my new home will need to have a safe and secure yard for me to enjoy. I can be mouthy and give kisses once I am warmed up to you. I like to play by using my mouth my human friends call it being mouthy I call it tasting everything...hehe I'm not biting I can just be a little nippy sometimes. I went out to Marshalltown to see if I could find my forever home out there but I didnt fit in well out there and came back to Almost Home. They didnt have outside runs due to it being winter and that just made me feel trapped. I am not a fan of getting a bath... but I do love rubbing my wet body all over you once I'm done! I'm up to date on all of my vaccinations and I tested negative for heartworm. I am microchipped and spayed. Do you have room in your home for me?

Story
This pretty girl is Eva, who is a mix of a Siberian Husky and a Shepherd. She is only 9 months old and weighs 43 pounds. We got Eva out of a local shelter that was closing due to the Covid-19 virus. Eva was at the shelter after she was picked up as a stray and no one came for her. Eva is very affectionate and wants to please her people. She is young and playful but also knows how be relax and be lazy indoors. She enjoys walks and needs an outlet for her puppy energy. She requires a physically fenced yard so she can run and play safely at her home. Eva gets along well with other dogs her size and she would also do fine as an only dog. She is happy to play with dogs or humans, it doesn’t matter to her, she just wants to have a good time. Her foster home said she seems to like to search for things, so maybe one of the find it games would be a good activity for her. While she is invested in pleasing her people, she hasn’t had anyone work with her on standard commands until she got to her foster home. She is now starting to learn the basics like sit. She is also still a mouthy puppy who likes to put everything in her mouth, so they are working on that. Eva and her new family would benefit from a basic obedience class or someone committed to daily short training sessions. Eva is housetrained and does well on a leash. Eva is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm tested and microchipped. She is a beautiful girl who is ready to go to her forever home. If you would like to meet Eva, please start the adoption process by filling out our adoption application on our website at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Eva you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657 Indoor homes only. Adopters within two hours of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Adoption donation is $200.

Story
This is Shi a 4 year old, 70 pound Husky and Labrador Retriever mix. Shi isn’t shy, she is social, outgoing and loves everyone she meets. Her coat is as soft as a bunny. She does well with other dogs and children. Shi is great at cuddling and will happily give you her belly until your arm falls asleep rubbing it. She sticks close to her people and will happily sit at your feet and follow you wherever you go. Shi loves to go on walks and walks nicely on a leash. If you want to take a ride, she loads herself in the car and sits nicely and watches the scenery go by. Shi takes treats gently and will also give gentle kisses. Shi is a quiet girl and only barks if there is a reason like the doorbell ringing. Shi is used to being left lose in a home, she doesn’t need a kennel and knows her manners. Dogs don’t get much easier than this. The worst thing her foster mom has so say about her is she snores softly. Shi was surrendered with her brother Rocco to a local shelter. Their owner no longer had time for them. Shi had been at the shelter 3 weeks. Because the shelters are closing due to Covid 19 we got Shi out to a foster home. Shi’s is used to a physically fenced yard and would like her forever home to have a physically fenced yard so she can safely run and play. Shi is housetrained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm tested. If you would like to meet Shi, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Shi you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Indoor homes only. Adopters within two hours of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Adoption donation $250.
