Please read entire description. If ad is still viewable, we are still accepting applications. No phone calls, please. If you have questions, read the description again. We attempt to cover all known information about the dogs in our writeups. Meet and greets are set up by appointment only after we receive and review your application. If there are certain requirements for a particular pet that you are interested in, please ensure you meet that criteria. One application works for all of the pets in our care. To apply for a pet, please visit our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first and required step of the adoption process. We want all placements to be the best fit for dogs, humans, and other pets in the home. We do offer a trial period of time to make sure everything is working in the home. We use the observations and experiences of owners, fosters, vet staff, kennel staff, volunteers etc to complete write ups that are accurate to the best of our ability based on our interactions with the dog. Queen Kahlua is looking for a new home. She is a 3 year old Malamute that weighs 60 pounds. This girl is a supreme DIVA. Kahlua has the attitude "I do what I want." Kahlua eats when she wants (she prefers a bit of cottage cheese mixed in with her kibble), comes inside when she wants, goes in to her crate when she wants. She talks in "woowoos" to her humans to demand they do her bidding. This seems to work for her pretty well .After all, she is Queen Kahlua. Kahlua was originally sold to a family in Indiana from a breeder in another state. She ended up in a trailer park and was passed around family to family. She became stray and was never claimed. That's right, another full-blooded dog in Rescue. This is why we intend to find her a forever home that fits her needs. Kahlua is good with other dogs and older children. She both coexists with dogs, but also likes to play. Kahlua is great with strangers and all people, but does seem to respond and bond better with men than women. We don't feel cats will be safe with her. She tends to have a small animal prey-drive outside. She will require a securely fenced yard in her forever home; preferably with locks on the gate for when she may be unsupervised. Kahlua would need to be fed separately in a crate when other dogs are present. She was clearly underfed and very underweight under her fluff when we met her which naturally causes some food issues that are very manageable. Kahlua loves to sit in the yard and watch the world go by, but she is not and will not be an "outside" dog. When inside, she loves to sleep on pet beds, the couch, under her humans bed or on it. (Whatever pleases her.) She is very house trained and hasn't been destructive at all when left unsupervised. She is also comfortable going into an XL crate and prefers it; well you know...sometimes. We are looking for someone that can appreciate her quirky personality and understand some of the sarcasm in the post, We are not looking for the person who reads this post thinking, "Ill use dominance and make her be a good dog" Kahlua would benefit from some positive-reinforcement training, but she is a great dog even without it. She would love to accompany her person on hikes, jogs, and adventures. She does great in public and has often joined us for events in the community. Kahlua is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. If interested, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $200. We are ONLY accepting applications for someone with NO CATS, NO SMALL CHILDREN, and a PHYSICALLY fenced yard.
