Story
Oh, Liberty! She came to us as a stray from the Williamsburg MO area.  She was emaciated, weak, and near death. Liberty has been treated for a bacterial and yeast skin infection at the UMC Veterinary Hospital. She has improved but still has hair loss on her muzzle and tail that may never grow back. Liberty's condition was the worst of the 5 dogs we rescued so her therapy has been more involved, Liberty had a tin can stuck on her muzzle for days while she was homeless. Liberty may need ongoing treatment for her skin conditions. She may not be the most beautiful dog on the outside, but inside she has an endearing spirit and a loving heart. Liberty is a very happpy dog now that she is healing from her horrible skin problems and is not sitting at death's door. Liberty is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door, and she loves kids, dogs, and cats. Leash walking is a challenge for Liberty but she is making progress every day. To be considered for adoption of Liberty you MUST have access to a securely fenced yard. Liberty's adoption fee is $125 and a home visit is required before final approval. Story
Uncle Sam came to us as a stray. Uncle Sam lived in the woods with his 2 sisters and 2 adult dogs before coming into our rescue. He is a timid guy that is learning that life with people, pets, and a house to live in are good things!  He is learning that life is great but feels most comfortable with people near but not touching him! We hope that Uncle Sam will learn that people are not the scary things that he must have encountered in his past. Uncle Sam is comfortable with other dogs and he learns from their guidance. He is bonded with his sister Liberty. Uncle Sam is a flight risk as he is a timid dog. His adopter will need a secure fence. Uncle Sam is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door. He loves dogs and cats. He has been around children. If you are interested in adopting Uncle Sam, please fill out an application at www.arffmo.org.
