Story
Lincoln is a handsome 2-year-old chocolate lab-pit mix who weighs just over 70 pounds. In the safe confines of his home, he is friendly, affectionate, and voice-responsive, but he is highly reactive when a new person enters the scene. Similarly, although his leash skills have improved by leaps and bounds and he is now an easy walking companion, he is highly reactive when he spots another person or dog. Lincoln is young and smart ...and this reactivity can be greatly lessened with continued guidance from an experienced owner or professional trainer. He is very interested in interacting and playing energetically with other dogs but often misses their social cues to back off and scuffles can result. He could easily be in an only-dog household but, with thoughtful pairing, could also live with another dog. He has been fine with cats. He is comfortable with crating and knows basic commands. Lincoln is a work in progress and will undoubtedly thrive in a supportive home where he can continue working on his skills. The reactivity to strangers prevents him from attending adoption events but an alternative setting can be arranged. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative (age 7 months and older) and microchipped. We do not ship or transport. A dog's adoption donation is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an online application here: www.heartlandsmallanimalrescue.org/canine-application.html

Story
Riz is a young 3-5 year old lab mix and is about 50 pounds. His favorite thing in the world is tennis balls and is perfectly content carrying one around in his mouth all day, but would love someone to occasionally throw it for him. He does great when not crated, and is potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. He is a very sweet dog but also has some social anxiety so he doesn’t like to be pet all the time. A household with no children or children that respect his space would be best. Riz gets along with other dogs but would thrive as an only dog due to some minor guarding issues that an experienced adopter could easily handle. He also is fine with cats. Once you get to know Riz he is a great dog and would make a fantastic addition to your family! All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative (age 7 months and older) and microchipped. We do not ship or transport. A dog's adoption donation is $200. Story
Daisy is a 8 year old purebred yellow lab. She has been with our family since she was 8 weeks old. She is great with kids, other dogs and cats. She does have epilepsy which requires her to be on medication daily but is on the lower dose of medication which is keeping the seizures under control. She is 3 years seizure free. We are moving out of state and can not have any animals at our new home. We are looking for a loving family to make daisy part of theirs and give her unconditional love and care.
