Story
Bonita, born December 7, 2017, is a very pretty 60 pound Black coloured Labrador Retriever mix who is vaccinated, spayed, and micro-chipped. Transferred from another Rescue, this active, intelligent girl loves women and seems to be afraid of most men. She would benefit from some obedience training, and, this would be a great way to bond with your new canine companion. She loves to go for walks, enjoys learning new things, and when tired is content to curl up at your feel with her chew-stick and snooze while you read or watch T.V . Bonita loves to learn and works very hard for bits of chicken and cheese. She would certainly enjoy Rally Obedience and/or Doggie Agility. Bonita would like to have an adult home, without cats, with a fenced yard so that she can play safely while her family is working or relaxing in the out-of-doors . She is good with most other dogs, Bonita is looking for an adult home that has experience with the active, intelligent, curious Labrador dog Breed. You can download a questionnaire from our Website and bring this completed if you are interested in Adoption. Email us at ahspca@storm.ca to schedule an appointment to meet Bonita Our Adoption Center, the SPCA of Western Quebec, is located at 1658,chemin Pink ( the blue stucco building at the corner of chemin Pink and rue Auguste Mondoux--right beside the Shell Gas Station), in the Ville de Gatineau.. Story
Welcome Spike. He is a big gorgeous Black Lab mix. He is about 70 pounds and 1.5 years old. He has a big head that is similar to the Rottweiler but his personality is lab. He is very playful with the dog named Freckles. He is energetic but not over the top. He is decent on the leash and friendly with all dogs and people. He is athletic and will make some outdoorsy family a nice companion. He could go in a home with kiddos. We like kids to be 7 and older as they are more respectful to animals. He would make a great hiking, walking or running buddy. He is a very nice and social dog. He is currently in Texas. He was recently neutered, has all vaccinations and is ready for his forever home. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to have him delivered to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 200 and transport is 185. He will have an international health certificate allowing him to cross the Canadian border legally and easily. Bienvenue Spike. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Jenny Cope (giveadogahome@live.com) for more information about this pet. Animal Welfare organizations have been deemed as essential business, and so we are able to continue our operation.  However, we are taking the threat of COVID-19 very seriously and are following the government guidelines and implemting our own precautions.  Meet & Greets will continue to be on an appointment basis only. They will take place either in the outside enclosed area, or the large room at the end of he kennels. There is a no contact, other than with the dog in place and children will not be allowed out of their vehicles. MEERKAT was saved  from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine  MEERKAT is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 4 February 2014 and at the time of rescue in February 2020 weighed around 40 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.   MEERKAT arrived at the rescue on Tuesday, 25th February and has settled in well. He can be a little shy at first and although he enjoys running and playing with the other dogs, he does prefer smaller groups and he will run, chase and play quite happily. On a vet visit Meerkat became a different dog, he was so social, there was an elderly lady who he went and sat down right in front of just looking up at her, he was so happy and so well behaved. It is clear that he has had a family and possibly an elder lady with the way he acted, he loves going on walks, is great riding in the car, was great with the vet and his staff. He is an all round great boy a nice medium sized middle aged dog - perfect for a relativly active fun family.   All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed.   All dogs are fed   Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison.  R achael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.   WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW HE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK.   MEERKAT is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.   This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.   If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.   Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.   https://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/forms/form?formid=5838     ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.Click here to watch a video of MEERKAT.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Meet our handsome Django, an easygoing and well-mannered mix of Lab and Boxer who just celebrated his 7th birthday. Django came into our care from his original family due to a move where dogs are not permitted. Since arriving at the foster home, Django has been nothing but a gentleman. He was always well treated, taken to the vet regularly, and is in excellent health. Django is great on leash and gets along very well with the smaller dog at his foster home. He is well behaved in the house and is used to being at home during the day while his people are at work. A big sweet and cuddly boy at about 90 pounds, Django loves to be around children and people. He is curious about cats, but is gentle and just wants to play with them. As you can see by his photo, Django enjoys chilling out on the sofa, so we would love to find him a home where he can continue to do what he is used to. Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website if Django sounds like the guy for you. Django will be ready to meet you at our adoption day at Mon Ami in Kirkland this Saturday February 22 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. If you need directions, please click on the scrolling link on our website. Click here to fill out an Adoption Application All Kiko dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed and tested for heartworm (if deemed necessary), microchipped, sterilized, and require an adoption fee of $400 and an adoption contract.

Story
Oso means bear in spanish and that’s exactly what this sweetheart is; a big cuddly bear! Oso is an 8-year-old senior tripod who is super sweet and affectionate and great with kids and other dogs! He was unfortunately hit by a car and his owner let him go too long without seeking treatment so by the time he got to the shelter the damage was too much and they had to amputate his front left leg. He is a mixed breed dog who would love nothing more than to be spoiled and loved the rest of his life! We are looking for someone with a fenced in yard with someone who is almost always home to help him acclimate to his new life, country, home, language and weather! 😊 Oso comes from a shelter in Mexico that has difficulty adopting larger breed dogs and older dogs! We are very happy to be partnering up with them so that they can send us as many dogs as possible, therefore opening up a place in their shelter and thus being able to take more homeless dogs off the street and find them homes!

Story
Welcome Nina to CCPAL. She is a Lab/Mastiff is our best guess. She is very sweet with other dogs and her energy is moderate. She is about 2 years old and her teeth look nice. She recently had pups and is now being spayed so we can find her forever home. She is about 50 pounds and would make a great family dog. She is shorter than some labs but she has a very nice, social temperament. She was found on the streets with her pups. She was almost hit by a car and a good Samaritan called and asked CCPAL to take the family. CCPAL took all 3 and are now looking for homes. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with a transporter for delivery to Washington, Portland, all along the East Coast, Minnesota and Wisconsin. She is about 50 pounds an may be a little on the chunky side. She has a nice coat and with a bit more exercise and less food should trim down nicely. She would love to go running or hiking with her new family. I would say an active family is her best fit. She can curl up after she has gotten a little exercise. She loves a good rub and we are looking for the family to dote on her. The adoption fee is 200 and transport is 185.She will have an international health certificate allowing her to cross the Canadian border legally and easily.
