Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Cheyenne and Kiki are ready to go to their furever home They are 9 years young, active, super silly and good with every animal and person they meet.  They have easy special needs: Cheyenne needs daily drops for glaucoma--very inexpensive and she now see very well, and Kiki takes glucosamine for her home end but gets around very well.  Kiki needs to lose some more weight, but she can finish her diet in a home. They are very bonded and absolutely must stay together.  Ready for their home, on E Long Island, please apply, as they have long loves ahead of them for to their size and breeds.   FB: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there)Twitter: zanisff Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   D ogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. He came in as a stray but was clearly somebody's love who most likely was let go on the street because his nails were veryyyyyyyyyyyy long so there was some serious neglect going on. Typical of small breeds, he should not be jumping around a lot as he may have some sublaxating patella issues.  He is a very nice boy who would do well in a home with understanding doggy parents and maybe another dog or cat to be his seeing eye companion.  Please apply asap so he goes through the least amount of change possible.   Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. Story
This sweet little boy is approx 2 years old and 10 lbs. He looks like a llasa mix. He is a sweet little dog, loves to run and play, loves toys, gets along with the other dogs, seems to be pretty well house trained and does well on a leash. He prefers women over men so if adopted into the family, he needs the male to be patient and allow him to warm up. Here is from his foster mom - He's doing well. And he's been fine around men, and even strangers. But I think he needs someone who avoids stressful situations in the beginning (like taking him to work to meet strangers). My dad and his wife came over the other night, I put Sterling upstairs until they got in the door and it wasn't as loud. And he did great when he came downstairs. As for other dogs, he gets along fine with mine. Sometimes Susie growls at him, or he growls at Susie but it lasts a few seconds. Otherwise, they get along great. I think he'd do fine with a buddy. we think he may have been hit by a car and needed an Fho that our orthopedic surgeon completed, he also had a fractured pelvis which had healed so the surgeon felt id did not need any more repair, he did test positive for heartworms and has been treated with the required number of shots, we usually find that the dogs test clear in 4- 6 months, he has also been started on a monthly heart worm preventative that we require our dogs to be on for life, OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with no children under the age of 8, and experienced dog owners only The total adoption fee of between $550 and $675 depending on the quarantine laws of the adopter or foster's state (primarily Massachusetts) and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chipped. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a coupon for a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. Our application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/ We require two years of vets records on your current or past dog for our review Records must show the potential adopter as the owner
