***Puppy Pals Rescue will not be participating in public Meet and Greets or other public activities until further notice. We are following the HSUS and the Dayton Humane Society guidelines until the COVID-19 virus crisis passes.*** *We will consider local adopters only. Please apply only if you live in the Dayton / Cincinnati / Columbus Ohio area. Barney is a doll! He is a 6-year-old, 5-lb, male Maltese. He was surrendered along with 9 other dogs from a breeder who had 27 dogs. Puppy Pals Rescue has 3 of the surrendered males. All of the dogs had been neglected, but Barney is doing well and ready for a forever home that will love on him all day long. He loves people and thoroughly enjoys attention and affection! Barney has been fully vetted; neutered, dental (they pulled his last 3 teeth because they were loose), heartworm and fecal tested (results negative), vaccinated, and microchipped. He is also current on heartworm/flea/tick preventative. He was very matted upon arrival with very long claws, but he has been groomed and is now mat free. Through all of the vetting and grooming, he has been so sweet! The breeder never took the dogs outside… the males wore belly bands and did #2 on pee pads. So Barney is not housebroken. He will “go” outside but will need to be taught that it is not OK to “go” inside. Barney is crate trained (he has never soiled his crate). He sleeps in a crate in his foster parents’ bedroom and is quiet all night. Even though he doesn’t have any teeth, Barney has no problem eating. He eats like he has never been fed and will growl if the other dogs come near his food bowl while he is eating… he has never growled or snapped if his foster mom reaches into his bowl. The only concern with being toothless is that he has to be fed either soft food or kibble and treats that are small enough to be swallowed whole. The benefits of having no teeth is no bad breath and no dentals! Barney is learning to walk on a leash… it’s all new to him. He is timid out in public because he was never socialized. This should dissipate as he has more positive experiences being out and about. Barney likes being up high; on the top of the crate, in the recliner, or on the back of the couch. None of the 3 Maltese in our rescue have shown any interest in toys (they probably never had toys), but that could change with time. Barney likes playing with other dogs, so a doggie playmate in his forever home would be nice. He loves to explore so a fenced yard is preferred. A home with older children would be fine, but because of his small size, small children would not be a good fit. We will consider local adopters only. Please apply only if you live within the Dayton/Cincinnati/Columbus Ohio area. Barney is being fostered in Beavercreek by Dana and Rob. If you have questions about this pup, please contact the foster home at dana.luck@sbcglobal.net. If you think this is the pup for you, please go to PPR's Application Forms page and submit an Adoption Application! Please email the foster home to let them know you have applied as sometimes forms seem to get lost in cyberspace.

Story
***Puppy Pals Rescue will not be participating in public Meet and Greets or other public activities until further notice. We are following the HSUS and the Dayton Humane Society guidelines until the COVID-19 virus crisis passes.*** Ollie is a 2 year old Maltese Bichon mix weighing in at 13 pounds . While it may take him a second or two to warm up to new people, he is soon in their lap with toy in mouth. Ollie loves all living things, even squirrels and birds. However… those last two he really enjoys chasing! He is working hard on potty training and now goes outside most of the time with an occasional use of the pee pad inside. He loves going outside to play and sniff and doesn't even mind going out in the rain and snow. Ollie could easily be an only dog, but would also benefit from having another dog around to learn from and play with. He is definitely a lap dog and after a game of fetch, likes nothing better than snuggling close to you . Ollie is crate trained and walks well on a leash. He is very smart and works hard for a treat. Ollie does excellent with children, even the little ones, but he is a little guy and always appreciates an adult monitoring the interaction. If you have questions about this pup, please contact the foster home at the link below. If you think this is the pup for you, please go to PPR's Applications Page and apply! Please email the foster home at the link below to let them know you have applied, as sometimes forms seem to get lost in cyberspace.
