Story
Meet ABBY. She is a 12 year old PETITE and ADORABLE MAINE COON mix female that weighs only 5 pounds. Abby’s history is one that will leave you shaking your head in disbelief. Abby was purchased from a pet store when she was a tiny kitten. The couple that bought her only wanted her as a plaything for their grandson when he visited them. The remainder of the time, Abby was kept in the basement with little or no human contact. She was never taken to the vet, nor was she spayed. We feel fortunate that we were able to free her from this horrendous situation. We’ve since had her vet checked and spayed. We were surprised to find out that Abby tested positive for FIV and we can’t quite understand how she contracted it. But the good news is that she is GREAT around other cats so she can live with other felines regardless of their FIV status. It’s understandable that Abby was a little standoffish when we rescued her. But since then, her foster mom has earned Abby’s trust and she is LOVING and AFFECTIONATE, enjoys looking out the window and even gives her foster mom KISSES. Abby’s adopter will need to be an EXPERIENCED cat person because (she will swat if pushed to do something she doesn’t want to do and trimming her nails is a challenge so will likely need to be done at the vet). Someone experienced with FIV positive cats is also preferred. If you're the type of person who enjoys the rewards that come with seeing the difference that love and patience can make in the life of an animal that has never had that before, then please come and meet Abby. She resides in Westchester, NY. * The primary mode of transmission for FIV is through bite wounds. Casual, non-aggressive contact does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections. To meet me, fill out the CAT ADOPTION APPLICATION at http://poshpetsrescue.org/applications/ If you have any inquiries concerning this kitty, please email: catadopt@poshpetsrescueny.org

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     This pretty kitty came all the way from Kuwait with her mom, Snow White. Sonboula, aka Sonnie, is is very bonded with her mother ad they should got to an experienced home for long haired cats.  Sonnie has a pawsitive attitude and does not let her disability hold her back.  She loves to explore new places and climb up to high places.  She also loves to play with toys. She is a stunning looking cat with long silky fur. She jumps on the bed, climbs up onto the kitty post, and enjoys taking naps in sun beams.  Sonnie has the face of a kitty model but she has a very down to earth purrsonality and loves to get attention and will rub herself up against you to get attention. If you love long haired cats, please submit an application for Sonnie and her mother.. Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there)Twitter: zanisff Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Please fill out an application on our site https://zanisfurryfriends.org and return to cats@zanisfurryfriends.org   Please note: kittens must be adopted in pairs or to households with age appropriate cat(s) to ensure proper socialization and companionship. NO exceptions! If you would prefer a solo cat, we would be happy to recommend those cats who would do best as solo cats. All our cats are tested for FIV/FeLV, spayed/neutered, vaxed and also microchipped.   Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at cats@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application by Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too. Please come! And if you can't adopt foster or volunteer, you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.
