Story
Keller was a stray who was found wondering the streets in Louisiana and taken to a high intake kill shelter. Keller being a senior boy who is pretty much blind and deaf and heartworm positive did not stand a chance. He was put in a foster home until transport was arranged. He is a sweet guy who spends most of his day sleeping. He does not mind other dogs as long as they don't get into his face. After all when you cannot really see or hear well who would want someone in your face. Due to him being a senior boy he would do best in a home with older children. Keller is up to date on shots, rabies, microchipped, neutered and on heartworm prevention. We have him on pre heartworm treatment antibotics. Once he is done with those and our vet clears him for he will have his injections and be ready for a life of luxary. Zoey came to EDCR after a back injury. Unfortunately, surgery was unable to repair the injury and she lost use of her back legs. Don't feel bad for Zoey though! She gets around great in her wheel chair and loves to boss her foster siblings around. She is a great snuggler and naps are her top priority. :) Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Each dog in our rescue is in a loving foster home, where they can grow, play, and recover from their time spent on the streets or in a shelter. Because we are a foster home based rescue a completed adoption application is required to meet our adoptable dogs.

Artie Shaw is an adorable 1 1/2 year old maltese/cairn terrier who weighs about 13 lbs. ARTIE NEEDS A HOME WITH A YOUNG PLAYFUL DOG who can wrestle with him as well as show him that people are safe. He has so much love to give and bonds quickly. Artie came from a shelter and does have some fear issues with new people but has improved greatly in the time we've had him. However, he will still need a home with relatively few visitors, at least initially, in order to grow in trust & confidence. He's active but not overly so; when he's not running with his dog friends, he adores being held & cuddled. Because of his fear issues, a home with kids under 12 years would likely be too stressful for him. Artie's smiling face is sure to bring you joy! His adoption fee is $300; he's neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm/flea preventative. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org .
