Story
Zane is a 9 year old male Maltese Zane is a fun happy boy with many quirks. He loves toys and being outside running free is his favorite thing to do. Zane came to us from a scary puppy mill. He has caught on quickly that freedom is an amazing thing. Zane will need a dog savy adopter that will be patient and learn to love his savy ways. He will growl at a other dogs that will approach him when eating or lying in his bed. He is not aggressive in any way. He just likes his alone time. Zane will snuggle with other dogs, on his terms. He will play with, run after and loves being around another dogs. Zane requires a fenced yard and absolutely NO small children. He loves when you talk to him, but not ready to be petted or held. Everyday he gets a little or confident. Zane will be available for adoption after February 13th when he is completely vetted. His adoption fee is $350. He is located in Pontiac IL. For more information you may contact Tracy at 815-674-9176. Please go to tinypawssmalldogrescue.org to fill out an online application.

Story
We are Amber and Tawny, not blood sisters...more like Sisters Of The Traveling Paws. We are 8 yr old, 11-12 lb. MaltiPoos who used to have a full time job producing puppies so a monster could make a profit. We had no toys, no treats, never felt the grass or had anybody pet us. When we started to slow down on the production line, we were terminated with no benefits or severance pay. They planned to just euthanize us but it was cheaper to hand us over to Tiny Paws. We were stuffed into a small cage together and rode for days in the darkness...scared, hungry and cold. We have had quite the journey but hope we are almost at our final destination...a loving home of our own where we can feel safe and loved. Today we went to the salon where the best groomer ever patiently gave us pedicures and a beautiful cut and color. OK, no color...but we look and smell great! Next week we will have a dental and get spayed and soon after will be ready to become someone’s loyal companion. We are very shy but are learning to trust and like to be around people. We do very well with training pads but will need help understanding what ‘outside’ means. Fortunately, we are very food motivated. It would be awesome if we found a home together since we’ve become quite close during our flight for life. If you have room in your heart and home for one or both of us, please fill out an app on www.tinypawssmalldogrescue.org Our adoption fee is $350 each or $600 for both and includes spaying, dental and UTD on shots. You can also contact our foster mom, Joy Myers, by texting her at 414-881-5636.

About this Dog: Name: Nenana Breed: Maltese Approximate Age: 7 yr Gender:  Female Weight:  9 lb Adoption Fee:  $400 Why in Rescue:  surrender from commercial breeder General Profile:  Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  Nenana is in is foster home and after spending some time with her, we now know she is going to need a fenced in yard (a secure, physical fence not an invisible fence) and at least one other small social dog in the house.  She is happiest with other dogs and not sure about people so she needs a canine companion to make her happy in life. Nenana came from a commercial breeder who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized, and probably never lived in a house.  They need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like television is.  She will need an adopter who will give her the time she needs to adjust and learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after being used the first part of their lives for making puppies.  A fence (or at least a fenced in potty area) is highly recommended and may be required for certain dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  If you are interested in any of our dogs, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we will set up a time for you to come and meet them. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://www.nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html   Adoption Procedures: 1.  Completely fill out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog.  We will be checking with your vet if you have had pets, calling your landlord (if any) and checking a personal reference, before we contact you about visiting the adoptables.  Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2.  If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in.   3.  If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her.  In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day.  If all the vetting hasn't been done yet, we will hold the pet for you until the vet work is completed.  4.  If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application.  You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time.  Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us!   The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $475 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested and started on preventative, microchipped, and dewormed.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you will also receive an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training for $50 (up to $200 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, Small Dogs Big Hearts, or Shy & Reactive Dog Class.  You must start the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Many are in various foster homes getting extra one on one attention getting them ready for their new homes.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Dog Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $50 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***Other than during open hours, we do not show dogs/cats without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS

Story
Updated: 2/25/2020 Family Name: Harebane House FENCED IN YARD REQUIRED! Hi, I'm Dog #12. I am about 3 years old and weigh about 12 lbs. I am the little girl who ran away when I first got here from GA, I was scared and didn't know where I was and even though everyone did what they could, I slipped out and and kept running. But everyone was so worried and searched for me everywhere, and they found me, and now I am safe in a foster home while I search for my Forever Home! I know I don’t have a name yet, but where I was before, there were too many of us, and nobody could tell us apart. We lived in what the shelter people in GA called a “hoarder house”. Please don’t be upset with the rescue for not naming us when we got here. They didn’t want to confuse us anymore, because they knew we would quickly find forever homes where we'd get our own forever names. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the ride up north! I'm very shy, and scare very easily. If you're calm and let me decide, I'll come up and give you some sniffs, and maybe let you give me a scratch. But don't make any sudden moves, since I don't know you, I'll bark and run away! I need time to get settled and learn to trust you. And since I am so skittish, I need a secure fenced-in yard, and a safe way to walk me so I can't run away. I do like to have a doggy friend to follow, I am more comfortable with another dog until I know I can trust the humans. But if you give me the time and support I need, I just love sitting on your lap and keeping you company. I really need a patient family who's willing to be my confidence while I get my own back. I promise I will pay you in cuddles and kisses! Adoption Fee: $500.00  We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. This will be determined by your contract along with the month they should have their surgery. This is included in your adoption fee. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as PENDING, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out.

Story
Jay Jay is a gorgeous little white maltipoo, with some cream highlights. He loves to play and snuggle. He also loves to ride in cars and look out the window. He loves to sleep with his person, although he is also crate trained. He plays well with others, and he gets along with kitties. He is neutered, up to date on shots, tested negative for heartworms, and microchipped with free registration. He also comes with his interstate health certificate from his veterinary examination prior to leaving Texas, which certifies him to be in good condition. Due to social distancing and lockdowns, and in full compliance with the regulations relating to same, we will be delivering him directly to the family which first places an exclusive hold deposit as set out below, arriving on Friday, April 10, in the Chicago/Northern IL, Southern Wisconsin areas along our travel route. He may also be picked up at the PetSmart in Pleasant Prairie, WI, 9887 76th St, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, on Saturday, April 11, 10 am to 5 pm. PLEASE READ WITH REGARD TO PRICING. Bear is one of a select few of our rescues whom we believe are purebred or a popular designer blend which we adopt out at a near market rate in order to use those funds to finance our program of readying additional dogs, puppies and kittens which we provide for free to receiving shelters in the northern U.S. So, instead of only one rescue dog out of Texas, the fee enables us to ready for, and transport, many more puppies and/or kittens to receiving shelters on each of our trips from Houston to Wisconsin every 3 weeks. Our goal is to get as many homeless animals out of south Texas, where we have a severe pet overpopulation crisis (due mostly to our temperate weather where strays breed year-round and don’t tend to perish due to cold weather.) The COVID-19 situation has made pet homelessness even more dire in South Texas. His adoption fee is $1500. He is available for an exclusive hold with a deposit of $500. If you are serious about making a hold deposit, please contact us at DogTrailRides@gmail.com or text or call 832-338-7041. We take payments through Zelle, PayPal, CashApp, or we take card numbers over the phone and process them through Square. All of these methods provide a receipt. Holds are handled on a first-come, first-served basis with respect to the first person to place a deposit as instructed by the rescue. His adoption is same day – if you appear and believe he is a good fit, you will be able to take him with you upon payment of the balance of the adoption fee (sales tax applies) and execution of our standard adoption contract. The deposit is refundable so long as you show up prior to expiration of the hold period, should you decide not to adopt him. Showing up is a requirement to receive a refund of the deposit. Thank you for supporting our efforts to bring Texas dogs north to loving homes! You can read more about us at facebook.com/TxRescueRiders (Texas Rescue Riders). Note: As a rescue, we cannot guarantee breed. We rely on owner representations and veterinary opinions.
