Story
Hi there! My name is Ambrose and I am here at the Blue Mountain Humane Society in Walla Walla. I'm not too sure how I like dogs, but I seem to get along with other cats and love humans! I would still like you to go slow when meeting me though. Just so I can learn everything about you bestie! I am one sweet lad looking to go on adventures with a new friend! If that is you, fill out an adoption application online and come meet me! I can't wait to say hi!

**Important Note** You won't find this kitty at the shelter. This kitty is waiting patiently in foster care for your call. Please contact the Foster Care Hotline at 206-684-0685 to arrange a meeting. Thank you! If I could rub against you right now to introduce myself, I would. My name is Pica, and when I'm happy I just rub against you and everything in the house to lay claim over what makes me so content. You'll never see me give a tail swish though, because I'm a Manx/tabby mix and don't have a tail! I have a little stump of a tail which you can see go happily up and down as I practice my favorite hobby - bird watching.I can be both lovey and independent. There are times where I do nothing but watch out for birds and squirrels, and other times where I can't be bothered to even glance at the window because I'm happily dozing on your lap or in any sun spot I can reach. I love getting some good stretches in too and will reach up high on a wall or vertical scratching post to lengthen myself. When I stretch out, I'll show you my belly which I enjoy having rubbed, and I'll only playfully trap your hand some of the time.I enjoy jumping on high window sills and would love a cat tree to play on. I hope you'll find time to play with me and the string toy. If not, I enjoy playing with soft toys or chewing on catnip sticks (I may even try to nibble on your ferns if you don't tell me otherwise). I've even worn a cat harness and leash! Though I haven't been outside, I'd be happy to have a family who could teach me about the outside world.Oh yeah, I also have a urinary tract disease called FIC which impacts my ability to pee. It only flares up when I get stressed out (like transitioning to a new home). I have prescription wet and dry food which helps keep me regular and not having problems. In times of transition, I may also take a little bit of liquid medication which helps keep me calm enough to pee - I never put up a fuss when getting medicine, especially if I get a little treat afterward. If I'm stressed out, I may have an accident outside my box though there are things you could do to make sure that doesn't happen. However, I've had good manners with my foster family and they'd love to tell you a bit more about how to keep me happy and healthy.I'd do best in a home with a cat savvy parent who doesn't mind keeping an eye on my health needs. I wouldn't mind having children around and could even live with another cat if I was introduced very gradually and there would be enough litter box space for me. Just to help keep my stress down, I'd appreciate you having a spare room where I could start out slowly for a couple of days. I'm also happy if you were working from home right now since I most enjoy having my family around. If you're interested in meeting me and could love my tail-less antics, just give me a call! My foster parents live in Ballard and could even do a virtual meet-and-greet!

Story
Is there anyone here that would be willing to take in a little kitten that possibly has manx syndrome? He is 14 weeks old and just needs someone with time throughout the day to care for him and clean his bottom up because he can’t control his pooping. So his little butt gets pretty messy.

Story
We love our milo so much!! She is a 5 year old Manx cat who loves the outdoors and playing fetch... ( this no joke she’s just like a dog). Milo has incontinence issues when sleeping but still uses the litter box and now that we have a small child in the house we cannot deal with her problem anymore. She is a sweet sweet cat and we’re looking for somebody to give her a forever home who might look passed this issue.

Story
Due to the Coronavirus situation, Safe Haven is closed. We will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Until then, we will not be able to return phone calls or emails regarding new adoptions. We thank you for your interest in our rescue kitties, and for understanding that we are taking this measure for the safety and protection of all concerned. Please check back with us in a few weeks. In the meanwhile, our kitties will be enjoying life in their catteries complete with catios while awaiting their forever homes. Lucy-Alice is an adorable, outgoing little short-hair calico mackerel tabby Manx with a white bib and green eyes. Born in October of 2010, Lucy-Alice was originally adopted from Safe Haven as a kitten. She returned to Safe Haven in March of 2014. She is very sweet and loving, craves attention, and is a gentle soul. She did not display symptoms of Manx Syndrome, a condition affecting many Manx cats, until she was a year and a half old, and her issues are relatively mild. She loves having visitors, and thrives on the attention readily given to her. She is such a sweetheart and so full of love for people that it’s hard to leave after spending time with her. Lucy-Alice would really like to be in her new forever home – will that be with you? PFOA prefers to adopt to homes on the North Olympic Peninsula, but we do make (lots of) exceptions. Please call our message phone to learn more about this kitty. A staff member will return your call. All PFOA animals are vet-checked, current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and combo tested for FIV / FeLV.
