Story
We do not euthanize any dogs, dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved and we can only do this when space is available or have an adopter. If you are interested in Count-URGENT please do not wait!! If you would like to apply to take Count-URGENT home, click the link next to their picture, or Visit our website at Www.godogsgorescue.org and fill out an application! We look forward to hearing from you. Count is a real sweetheart. He loves curling up next to you on the couch or going on long walks around the neighborhood. He can be shy at first, but just takes time to warm up to new folks. Out on walks he’s generally well behaved and very friendly, wanting to meet every neighbor and new dog we pass by. I don’t know how he is around cats or kids, but he’s definitely friendly around other dogs. He does seem to have some quirks when it comes to doors and doorways, but hot dogs make for excellent motivation. He’s very good in the house and doesn’t get into anything he shouldn’t or leave a mess anywhere, but stairs and loud noises tend to put him on edge. Count definitely needs a home with someone who can give him the love and attention he needs, and the patience to help him get over his quirks. It is unknown how he is with kids or cats as he hasn't met either since being in foster care but he can be tested upon request. Estimated to be about 5 years old and is HW negative!

Story
Maybelline is now being temporarily fostered by a very experienced shelter dog volunteer who has fostered many large dogs previously. She says: “Maybelline is a big girl, but is very easy to walk on a leash.  She is happy to see the leash and go for walks.  When she has seen things (to include people, passing cars, dogs, squirrels), she just becomes alert, stands still for a bit, does not pull towards or ba r k at, and quickly continues the walk at my verbal direction.  She LOVES food and treats, and is now happily eating her meds in chicken-flavored pill pockets.  She seems to know some commands.  She has a bedroom to herself with a crate in it.  She chooses to sleep in the crate -- I do not shut her in it.  “She likes to be around her people, can be pretty playful (like a giant puppy) but eventually will lay down and be still when instructed to do so.  Occasionally she uses her mouth to play, but in the most gentle way -- no nipping or biting -- again, kind of like a puppy without the puppy baby shark teeth.  She is a destuffer of toys and dog beds. An adopter would have to keep an eye on objects she has access to while not attended, so she does not consume anything she should not consume.  I have not yet tried to clip her nails, but I can touch her paws and legs with no problem.  She allowed me to clean her ears.” Maybelline was observed by shelter staff on March 18. She was clean in her kennel, friendly when approached, easy to obtain and easy to walk.  She reacted negatively (growling, baring her teeth) to some but not all dogs when they were walked past her kennel, but reacted positively (tail wagging, calm demeanor) when she was walked through the kennel past the other dogs. She got excited in a positive way when leashed and face to face with another dog. She reacted favorably to a cat (calm and interested) until it hissed at her, then was fearful. She was relaxed while being touched all over her body, averted her eyes but remained calm when looked in the face and showed no reaction to have her feet and mouth handled. She walked away from a bowl of food when the observer went to pick it up. She wasn’t certain what to do with a toy (“was pushing with nose”). Ask for her video!  She is 2 years old and 95 pounds.

Story
Meet Lady Cluck! Lady Cluck is a DARN NICE DOG. She is very kind and very sweet. She is also very calm. This girl just wants to be your friend and she just wants to be with you. She is affectionate, social, and always seems to be a calm version of happy. Lady Cluck needs to find a home with a CALM, STRONG, CONFIDENT, EXPERIENCED handler as she has behavior issues with human food. She is 2 years old and weighs 72lbs. Because she is such a strong dog, we will not adopt her out to a family with small children, but older teenagers are a possibility. ******IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ ALL THE GREAT INFO BELOW****** PLEASE read our website's ADOPTION PROCESS PAGE prior to submitting an adoption application. www.apupspizzazzrescue.com/adoption-process ADOPTION APPLICATION: www.apupspizzazzrescue.com/adoption-application ABOUT OUR RESCUE DOGS: All of our sweet fur babies are being socialized daily with other dogs, adults, & most importantly, children. They are ALL in homes being cared for by people who LOVE them! All of our dogs are located in Connecticut, are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, have had CT State health checks, & go home with a leash, collar, & packet of medical paperwork. BREED IDENTIFICATION: Please understand that many rescue dogs are mixes of multiple breeds. Petfinder allows us to choose up to two breeds per dog. While the shelters and our rescue do our best in accurately identifying breeds, breed identification is not guaranteed. If there is a certain breed that you do not want, it is very important that you share this with our rescue when applying. When adopting a puppy, breed uncertainty plays a big part in the size/look of the dog as an adult. Please know that any puppy can be a wonderful dog, regardless of preconceived notions of certain breeds, but it is very important that the adopter has the dedication and patience to raise the puppy with boundaries, consistency, structure, & love. The more effort you give towards training & time you allow for exercise, your puppy will grow to be a HUGE source of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, TOTAL LOYALTY, HAPPINESS, COMFORT & COMPANIONSHIP! ABOUT OUR RESCUE: We are a small rescue run by volunteers & focused on finding the right match for both our dogs & for you. If you are interested in adopting through our rescue, you first will need to complete an adoption application & be approved as a potential adopter before meeting any of our pups. No need to be intimidated by our application as it allows us to get to know you & your lifestyle. Of course, the more you can share the better! Please also note, while a fenced yard is fantastic, it is not required by our rescue, however, it may be required for a certain dog. Once adoption applicants are approved to become potential adopters, we offer private appointments where you can meet one or several dogs at the discretion of the rescue. We offer a unique & pleasant experience focused on finding the perfect match. It is extremely important to us that everyone is treated with respect & that NO ONE IS LEFT HANGING. WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU WITHIN 4 TO 5 DAYS of application submission. If there is a dog you are eager to meet, please email us before the 4-5 days! IF YOU DO NOT HEAR FROM US AT THAT POINT, PLEASE CALL US DIRECTLY at 203-241-2351 so that we can check the status of your application and move it forward immediately. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find your new best friend! HOME/RENTER INSURANCE: SOME PROVIDERS HAVE VERY STRICT POLICIES REGARDING WHICH TYPE OF DOG BREEDS ARE ALLOWED UNDER THEIR COVERAGE. STATE FARM WAS SUGGESTED TO US AS THEY DO NOT PUNISH, DROP, NOR REFUSE YOU DUE TO DOG BREED SHOULD YOU RUN INTO ISSUES WITH YOUR CURRENT PROVIDER.

Ice is an 8 ear old senior that was found stray in NYC. He is non-reactive to cats, okay with some female dogs and should be with kids age 16+. Ice loves baths, petting, walks and car rides. He's actually the perfect dog for someone that is relaxed and can let him adjust to lfe outside of a shelter. he was one of the favorites in Brooklyn but he's been there since November and he's a big boy in a small space. He needs to stretch his legs and find his forever home. Apply and read about our process at www.brasscitydogs.org

53 Pound boy 1.5 year old tops.   He is still puppyish, submissive and very playful. Enzo Loves all dogs.  The last photo is him in a baby seat in the car! Enzo is dog social.  He is uber affectionate.  Needs basic training/structure as all dogs do.. Walks well on the leash. Is crate trained. Takes treats gently. Lived with a foster for a month with a 5 and 12 year old and he was fine in their home and on their couch at TV time.  He is  fostering in Norwalk.  Ask for his cute videos.  He’s a wonderful boy and needs a family that will celebrate his devotion and loyalty.   He is also a calm boy too after playtime.  He’d love a canine companion and would thrive as a second dog. He has beautiful Pinto coloring.  He would make an excellent Emotional Support Dog as he is devoted, loyal and an Uber Snuggler.

Story
Meet Bruno! Bruno is 2 years old and he currently weighs around 80 lbs. As the old saying goes.....Bruno is just here to have a good time! He is the life of any party and will keep everyone laughing at his silly antics. So its needless to say he is very happy and fun loving. Bruno loves children but due to his size we think it would be better for him to be part of a family with older children. He is Crate trained and house trained. He gets along good with other dogs as well. Please consider this silly boy!! This dog is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested ****** for heartworms. The adoption fee is $400 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 10am-Noon. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.
