Story
Wally is a 3yr Mastiff mix - a big dog with a big head and big paws!!  He is the best of both worlds - he has lots of energy and loves to cuddle.   He is happiest being with his humans first and foremost, whether they are inside on the couch or outside enjoying the outdoors.  He loves to romp and play, but will gladly lay down for cuddles and pets at every opportunity. He especially likes it when someone is scratching his beautiful soft fleshy ears!   He was rescued by Funding4Fido in March 2019 from the Ft. Worth Animal Shelter.  He was an outdoor dog infested with fleas, ticks, heartworms, and a bad knee. Funding4Fido paid for all of his vetting and medical care including not one, but TWO knee surgeries and heartworm treatment before he was transferred to Marleigh's Friends Rescue for a larger adoption network.   He is now housebroken and kennel-trained.  He usually goes potty every 4-6 hours, and is able to go overnight (8:30p to 5am) without going outside. He very gently wakes his foster mama up by placing his muzzle on the bed next to her.   He is fine being in his kennel provided his humans are within his sight, but does not like being kenneled while his humans are away.  He is not suited to living in an apartment due to his loud voice when he is expressing his discontent being left by himself. Other than that, he is a quiet dog.  He is not reactive to noises outside and isn't bothered by thunderstorms.   Wally is dog-friendly (not sure about cats) and currently lives with two other big dogs.  They were all introduced slowly via a crate rotation that lasted a month and then proper introductions were conducted and interactions supervised.     He's working on his leash-walking skills and being less reactive to dogs on walks.  He and his foster family are working with a trainer to help reduce his reactivity to other dogs. His new family needs to be committed to improving his leash walking skills & continuing training.  However, he deserves a big yard and playmates (dog or human) to work out his energy - something he doesn't have with his foster family.   Wally is great with small children, but he is a big dog and gets excited when he gets to go outside for pottying or walks. Care should be taken to maintaining a low energy level and asking him to sit before he goes outside (at every entryway) to reduce his tendency to dart outside.   He is extremely food and treat motivated.  He gobbles and gulps his food down and needs to use a slow-feeder.  He eats separate from the other dogs in his household.     Wally is the sweetest big puppy and his foster mama adores him!  She's going to very sad to see him leave, but she is called to help other animals in need and wants to continue fostering.   His foster mama would love to maintain contact with his new family. ##478826##

Story
Gilly is a goofy senior good boy. We know for sure he has some mastiff in him but unsure of what else he might have. I have had him for many years but unfortunately, I am forced to move and am unable to take this lovable boy with me. He’s very affectionate, House broken, and sweet. He loves being around his people which makes this separation even harder. I really want him to go to someone who will allow him to live out his remaining years in a house of love. Please reply if you believe Gilly would be a good fit for your family.

Story
When we found out about Troy he was going to be euthanized - labeled aggressive. While he had not 'done' anything, the shelter staff were afraid of his posture and growling while he was pressed against the back of his run. His foster went to get him, walked into his run, put a slip lead on him and walked right out with him. Troy has never shown any aggression to humans. He lives with lots of other dogs, small, big, young and old. He is food aggressive with other animals so one would need to be careful with treats around him. He is easily managed but one must manage this. He eats in his kennel in his foster home as there are many dogs and should be feed separately or monitored if eating around other animals. Otherwise he's great with everyone, even the kitties. He is still fearful but has come a long way. He and his foster were instant friends. Within the first couple days he was sleeping on the foster husband's feet to be nearby. Now he will meet new people with treats and patience and is curious. If he's nervous he will retreat or cower, not confront so is safe with people not giving him space. If in a very social environment or a crowd he would WANT to be in another room. A small group ignoring him would probably be great to improve his people skills. Troy is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, neutered and on heart worm and flea/tick preventatives. The first step in our adoption process for this awesome handsome guy is to submit your application which is available online at hillcrestanimalrescue.org.
