Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 3/7/2020 Reason for being in rescue: Skipper and Minnie were surrendered to a shelter after their owner had a baby. CPR pulled them from the local shelter.  Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Skipper had a dental on 3/17/20 and lost 9 teeth. He and Minnie are now ready for their forever home. Weight: 8.1 lbs Height: in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $400 for the pair Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Skipper and his sister Minnie are looking for a home with room in their heart for 2 beautiful babies. They have been together their entire lives and are dependent on each other. Skipper is a lap baby. He does like to run and play so a yard would be preferred. He would do well in a home with older children also, over the age of 12.  What is my personality like? Skipper is a very loving and affectionate dog. He loves to sit in your lap and have you talk "baby talk" to him. Skipper might be 10 years old, but he does like to run around and play. He loves his sister very much and they love to follow each other around and play. Skipper also does love to roam around as long as Minnie is roaming too. These two are truly inseparable!!  How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and happy Other tips and tidbits: Skipper's estimated birthday is 3/12/2010 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Teddy had a cyst on his eye which we have had drained. It needs watched. Teddy's previous owner said that Teddy was hearing impaired.  He does appear to have some impairment but he makes up for it with other senses.  Teddy also had what our vets believe was a seizure in early September 2019.  Weight: 17 lb Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Teddy is a sweet old man who would do well in a quiet home. He's lived with retirees all his life and would like that life again. Teddy would love to be the only dog in the home but more importantly without cats. What is my personality like?  Teddy is a senior citizen just looking for his retirement home! He is fairly calm, and would love to share a couch with his human. Given his age, he still likes to chase a tennis ball every now and again. Unfortunately Teddy does not want to share his tennis balls and will growl if you try to get it back from him. This is something that can be worked with! We have noticed that Teddy does let out a tiny growl when being picked up. It is possible that that is just something he is not used to quite yet. Teddy lives for yummy treats, and will follow you around wherever you are going if you happen to have a snack in you hands. He does know how to sit well and walks on a leash! So far he has gotten along great with other dogs but would love a home where can be the only child. Teddy does not like cats, although he has never hurt them he does bark in their face and pounces. How do I act when I first meet new people? A little cautious but comes around quickly. Other tips and tidbits: Estimated Birthdate: 2/8/2007.  Teddy is ready to take it easy in his new forever home House trained? Yes - Honey needs the security and safety around her that a physical fence provides.  She will only go to a home where her safety and security is taken into consideration and that includes a fence.  She also loves to run and play. What kind of home would be best for me? We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away.  Do you have experience with very shy dogs?  Do you have patience and the ability to win trust?  Do you have at least one more gregarious small dog?  Do you want to give a dog a home who needs a home - not for you but to see a dog thrive? If so, Honey may be right for you.   What is my personality like? Honey is a very very shy dog.  She will run from you and bark at you. She likes women better than men, but that may be simply because we have more women then men here and that is what she is now used to.  If she is outside, she will bark at any person who passes by, but she is rather quiet inside. We do think she can be very sweet once she gets used to people, but she has a while to go. When Honey is happy she is a delight to watch.  She raises her head and looks at you with big, beautiful eyes that make you want to just hold her but that is something your going to have to earn.  Her crate is her very safe space and she will need that security in her new home, her own small space to go in when she feels overwhelmed.  She is not a gate or door dodger which is good. She bonds to her place and wants to stay there.  We do think a fenced in yard is essential because she has no clue what a leash is and that is going to take time to teach.   How do I act when I first meet new people? Very, very shy. Other tips and tidbits: Honey had a problem with a litter and had a c section. Rather than let her nurse anyway, her breeder/owner at the time felt it was best to go ahead and send her to retirement.  Honey missed her pups terribly and it took a long time for her to get over that.   For touch, she is sensitive to having her ears and head being touched.  Her favorites are chest and rear scratches. Those make her smile!  Honey is a project - and great big, beautiful project.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Many behavior challenges that need an experienced owner. Weight: 15.6 lb Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes - 6 feet if you want to keep him in.  Lucca cannot be left alone in a yard. Ever. He will climb a fence in a heartbeat to get wherever he wants to go, which is usually near his people. What kind of home would be best for me? Lucca is a young dog with absolutely no manners. He requires a very experienced owner that is willing to work with Lucca and invest in training with him to teach him that humans are alpha and he cannot rule the house. Lucca will not be placed in a home with any children under 18; he requires an, adult-only home. He would do best with no dogs in the house to begin with but once training is established he could move to having a brother or sister! Lucca would highly benefit from someone who is very interested in behavior and modificaiton and management with guidance from a positive motivation trainer.  He is wicked smart, treat motivated and very much able to learn.  The more he learns and the more confident he becomes, the better dog we believe he will be. But you'll never turn you back on this guy.  He'll take advantage in a heartbeat.   What is my personality like? Lucca has been a bit of a mystery to our team of caregivers. He arrived at Dreamweaver Farms a very young dog with absolutely no manners. He was confused and stressed and very snappy. Within the first 48 hours he scaled every fence he could and frequently climbed on top of cars parked in the parking lot. What a bundle of energy!  As Lucca has settled in, we have seen more of the young, energetic side you expect from a young dog instead of the stressed dog trying only to figure out how to leave. He loves to go for walks and only pulls slightly on a leash. He enjoys riding in the car, preferring to sit in the seat beside you or in a lap. He is a bouncy, happy boy when he is with the right people. We like to describe Lucca as a bachelor looking for his forever lady! Lucca is really responsive to the young ladies here at the farm. Like a bachelor he has about 6 different ladies that have his heart! Could you be the final lady to land the special rose from Lucca?! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, but unpredictable Other tips and tidbits: Lucca is largely a product of his environment. He was not trained on basic manners during his formative year and as a result, he thinks that he is forever the top dog. His forever family must be committed to working with him through these behaviors.   Luccas has been with us for almost a year and we're just now putting him up for adoption.  He's grown and matured in the last year.  Lucca can still be unpredictable but has came a long way in the time he has been a part of the farm. He is still selective about some dogs but he is now part of a play group and has many friends. He has an obsession with playing ball but has gotten so much better about not resource guarding his ball that now it's fun, not a challenge! Lucca will hide his ball in his crate but doesn't growl when taking it out now.  That's progress.  We still are working on manners and he can catch the ball in his mouth now! He wants to be near people, but if you are too in his space when he is not in the mood he will growl. We are still working on the growling, but caregivers have said he just gets mad when he has to go in his crate with no treat, so he expresses his concern for his treat but we feel like its just him stating that he deserves a treat! He is a young dog with a ton of potential for the experienced, patient family that pus in the work. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Had a small tumor on one side which has been removed Weight: 12 lb est Height: 12 in at the shoulder est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? This poor guy can't catch a break.  Charlie has now been adopted and returned twice.  The first time was to a family who tried but Charlie wanted quieter.  The second time was to a college student with a fairly quiet life but Charlie did not want to be cuddled after 7 pm and so sadly was returned.  So we are trying once more time before putting Charlie in our SOS program.  Here is the wish list:   Charlie needs someone home a good bit of the time.  He loves people and wants only to be with you.  He would be a good companion dog to another dog although he's not a player.  He's a hang out kind of guy. He is also a "do my own thing" kind of guy.  He gets tired after 7 pm and he wants to find a bed and get his rest.  My best case home for him is one with a very experienced dog owner, several dogs so that Charlie can blend in and not have to be the one and only that constantly gets attention. He does not want that.  He wants some attention, some walks and some fun but at the end of the day he does not want to be the one solely responsible for his owner's dog happiness.   What is my personality like? Charlie is a simple, easy going kind of guy who wants to hang out, play some bridge, go for a long, leisurely walk and then settle down to an evening of home activities.  He loves attention, he loves to be petted (when it is on his terms) and touched and he loves to be talked to.  He sleeps in a crate here and he knows to settle down.  He eats in a crate here but once he is done eating, he's ready to get right back at your feet.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  A little shy.  He'll come up to you and take treats from you but he's not all over you.  He's got his own personal space.   Other tips and tidbits: Estimated Birthdate: 8/18/2010.  Charlie needs a retirement home who will understand he's been bounced a lot.  He's got some issues. He needs a home that will let him be himself.   House trained? No but he would like one What kind of home would be best for me? Rocky is seeking a home with an experienced, disciplined dog owner and someone who will take the time to train and love him. What is my personality like?    At two years old, Rocky is full of puppy energy! Full grown, he still seems very much like an untrained puppy. He was turned into the Greensboro shelter by his former owner.  We were not told why but we suspect behavior problems.  Rocky is talkative. When he wants attention or wants to play, he makes a lot of noises and growls. He play bites, putting hands and fingers in his mouth as a puppy would do. He just hasn't been taught that putting everything in his mouth isn't what most people like. Instead of play biting a hand, give him a toy. He loves toys! He's a smart guy and picks up things quickly. He listens when someone talks to him and he is very attentive to his surroundings. He can be treat motivated if it is a high enough value treat. In a crate he rides beautifully in the car.  When you first meet Rocky, it's best to take things slowly. It takes him time to adjust and warm up to new people. He loves being on a leash but he doesn't know how to walk on one politely. He wants to run and jump and fly! He gets so excited that he is going somewhere! The fun is about to start--he is just sure of it. With training he could turn into a great walking or running partner.  When tested with cats, Rocky was good with them but he is dog selective. Rocky's ideal new home would be one where he is the only dog and someone can devote time and energy to training him. It will pay off--he's a sweetheart at his core--he needs someone to believe in him and show him how fun training can be. Please note: Rocky was adopted and then returned to us due to biting. He needs stern but patient owners to help guide him. How do I act when I first meet new people? It is best to take things slow when you first meet Rocky. It takes him time to adjust and warm up to new people. He does know how how to walk on a leash but not really well, he does pull a lot. With training he could be a great walking partner and running partner.  Other tips and tidbits: Estimated Birthdate: 2/20/2016. Toys and treats are the way to his heart! House trained? Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
