Story
Joey is a uniquely handsome 7 year old, Peke/Cattle Dog mix. At only 24 lbs., this guy is the perfect size! With the markings of a Cattle Dog and his soulful eyes, this guy will melt your heart. Joey is a quiet and well behaved boy, who bonds quickly to his people and likes to follow them around. Joey would love to be adopted by someone who works from home or who can take him to the office with them, and he will quietly lay by their feet. Joey is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He is highly food motivated, smart, and very eager to please. This love walks beautifully on leash and is happy to go anywhere with his humans (and rides very well in the car). True to the Peke breed, Joey would prefer a home without young kids. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here:(https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). Please read about the adoption process (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. All fields on the application must be completed in order for our volunteers to process it (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/) Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care, so please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested prior to submitting. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health and safety of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering, and microchipping before transporting our dogs. Then, we provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources, so if you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
DOB 10-18-14 He is a little Peke that came in as a puppy with an enlarged heart. Most of his life he has been without medication, but there are times he has to go on Lasix (as he is now). Six months ago Jody had eye surgery to extend his eyelids further over the eyes so they are more protected and he doesn't get dry eye. Jody is a sweet little boy with a gorgeous coat. He never causes any trouble. He gets along with everyone, loves to be held and is very sweet. Jody's chances of finding a home due to his enlarged heart are pretty slim. Jody has been here since he was eight weeks old, and it is time for him to find his family.

Story
This little guy is about as sweet as he can be. Gizmo was surrendered in the South at his groomer's because they just didn't want to take care of him anymore. It looked like they never did. Despite this, he is just a happy-go-lucky guy. He keeps himself entertained flipping toys all around, but he's happy to be around you. GIzmo currently is having difficulty warming to the man in the home, so he should go to an all female household, or one where the man does not mind giving Gizmo ALL the time he needs to get used to him. He is great with kids and fine with other dogs. Gizmo came to us with a raging urinary infection, the likes of which we have never seen. Unfortunately we have found out it is a rare congenital condition and he will always be "leaky" requiring a pad. He is completely house broken and knows to go potty outside, but he has a drip requiring a band around him. (Details are available.) Take a look at the video, nothing keeps this boy down, he doesn't even notice! Through it all, this guy has been an absolute doll in his foster home. If you think he is the boy for your family he can come home to you when he is ready. He is already up north in Mass. He is about 6 years old and weighs 15 lbs. Please copy and paste this link to your web browser to fill out our online application, https://www.adoptapet.com/sweet-adoptables/adoption-application/ . Gizmo is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. Gizmo's adoption fee is $425. He is already up north and ready to come home!

Story
Meet Simba-- a Peagle, beagle/pekingese mix! He needs to be in an adult household as he is very like a peke in that he can be bitey. He doesn't like his face messed with, and he does guard his food, toys, and bed. He is playful and happy, loves going on walks, knows some basic commands and he does learn quickly. He also loves to play with other dogs and will do better in a home with other dogs! Simba is potty trained and does well in a crate. We do recommend that he is crated. The first step in our process is to fill out an online adoption application by visiting our website: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html **PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN YOUR INQUIRY** We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them. Please do not submit an inquiry if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fee is $475. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, 30 days of pet insurance, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. Our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is placed in an Oklahoma foster home where it is kept for a minimum of 2 weeks for quarantine to ensure that if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. After the 2-week quarantine, they are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. Once that is completed, the dog is transported via ground or air to a foster home in the NJ/NY area. However, if you are interested in any of our dogs and do not live within the mentioned areas, please contact us as transport can be arranged to approved adopters living outside these areas. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Hi, my dogs name is tucker he is 9 year old Pekingese who I’m unfortunately no longer to care for because I’m relocating and he has some behavioral issues. He has nipped people a couple of times if you take his full food bowl away from him. Also he isn’t house trained. He is a sweet dog who is friendly to his owner and others. He is a just territorial Dog in general. Looking to find him a safe home where he will be loved and care for.
