She and her 7 kittens ... Autumn, Opal, Bella, Ginny, JJ, Dexter, and Burton ... are all ready and eager to start their lives with their new families... how about yours? This beautiful mama gave birth to some gorgeous kittens, that's for sure! And what a wonderfully sweet and attentive mama she has been! It's time to find her a family of her very own now! This precious girl was rescued by the pastor of a church when one of the women in the congregation called him on 9/15/19, frantically upset because a stray cat was giving birth to kittens on her front porch! The Pastor went over and surprisingly enough, this mama kitty, who was giving birth to a third kitten, crawled into the carrier he had! He quickly put the other two newborns into the carrier and rushed home to call a member of the church he knew was a cat rescuer/foster mom! By the end of the evening, this beautiful longhaired Tuxedo mama had delivered 8 babies, and they were surrendered to Last Hope Animal Rescue! Eight kittens was a lot for this underweight stray mama to feed, and a few days later Patches needed to be taken to the vet as she wasn't feeling well - she was dehydrated and wasn't eating much. She was given fluids and an antibiotic injection, as well as some recovery food to help increase calories for her - and she was tested for FeLV/FIV to make sure she didn't have either of those diseases. Thankfully she tested negative for both! The foster family started supplementing the kittens by bottle feeding them, but sadly one of the little male kittens didn't make it :( The other 7 thrived though, and were all altered on the same day as their mama... 12/23/19! Patches & her kittens have lived with a 14-yr old and 11-yr old in the foster home and have been cuddled and snuggled ALOT! Patches is very affectionate and loves attention - she had to have been someone's pet to be this socialized and friendly. We think she'll get along with just about any family; dogs are unknown. She is ready for her babies to leave to coop so she can find her furrever home, too! When Patches was spayed, they discovered she had two hernias, so those were repaired during her spay surgery. She was given her FVRCP and rabies vaccination, was treated with Revolution for parasites, and she was microchipped! LHAR registers the chip for you and it has a free lifetime registration as well! As mentioned earlier, she was tested for FeLV/FIV at our vet office when she sick, and was negative for both. When she was rescued, we thought she was probably a young kitty, but when we picked her up after her surgery, we were shocked to discover she may be around 6 years old, from the apparent 'age' of her teeth! WOW! what a surprise! Who knows how many litters of kittens this sweet kitty has given birth to - but this litter was her LAST! Patches' adoption fee is only $85 - which is a BARGAIN for all the vetting she had done! BUT... Adopt a pair of any kitties, and we will give you a $25 discount! She and her kittens are being fostered in Cedar Falls, IA and may make appearances at adoption events in the Waterloo Petsmart Store, 1506 Flammang Dr., or perhaps may be residing in the Adoption Center in the store when there is an opening. We do not do onsite adoptions so please visit our Last Hope Animal Rescue website at www.adopthope.org and fill out our online application; our adoption process does include a home visit.
