NEW PICTURES/PROFILE March 2020... SPECIAL-NEEDS! Cerebellar Hypoplasia – (under-developed brain) – but she doesn’t know she’s different! FOR ADOPTION! (For more pics, visit nr2r.petfinder.com or www.RoadtoRescueLA.org) INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE applying. CAT APPLICATION LINK: http://www.roadtorescuela.org/cat-application Akila (female) Intake date: 10/29/19 Breed: Persian Age: 1 year old at intake Size: small Adoption fee: $125 (which includes microchip enrollment fee) Good with other cats/dogs: yes Vetting: altered (spayed/neutered), UTD on shots, FIV/FeLV negative, on monthly Revolution, microchipped Health issues: Akila is afflicted with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (which means she has an underdeveloped brain). Please do your research on this condition before applying. Temperament: Very sweet and affectionate; acclimates easily to new environment; isn’t fearful; a bit unsure around new cats;  she wants to be smack dab in the middle of everything! Intake reason: Akila came to us with Adonis from a foster situation. A nice lady took them from situations where they needed a home. She had the intention of rehoming them, but never felt comfortable in finding them the right home, so we were contacted for help. As stated above, Akila has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (which is a condition where their brain is underdeveloped). She gets around but she is very unsteady on her feet. She does use the litter box.  Her poop smells like moth balls.  We’ve had the vet do every kind of test to figure out why… but they can’t determine the reason…  so it is what it is.  LOL!  These pictures were taken in March after we had her shaved down.  She mats very easily so we decided she’d probably do better with a shave down.   We love it and she loves it!   She was sedated at our vet for the shave down.  She does great around dogs and has been around many in her former foster home. She can be a bit unsure of other cats at first but she can’t do anything about it so it’s just a defense mechanism for her.   She wants to be amongst whatever is going on.  If you’re working on something, she needs to help… (so she thinks).   She’s a quirky, sweet, wonderful, different little girl that has stolen all of our hearts.  She acclimates easily to new environments and isn’t scared.   We prefer a home that has experience with this breed and her condition as this is a life-long high-maintenance commitment BUT the rewards far outweigh anything she requires.  If you think you have the ability, the means, the time and the patience to bring this little girl into your life and home, we welcome your application. **IMPORTANT NOTES:** *We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved. We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule. *Only adopters with a responsible cat ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty. That’s our guarantee. Keep in mind BEFORE APPLYING that a cat’s lifespan is 15-20 years… sometimes even longer! If you cannot provide a FOREVER home, please do not apply! **NO BABIES OR SMALL CHILDREN. Cats, and especially kittens, are very fragile. Small children don’t always understand this so unless the family has a responsible cat ownership history reflecting children growing up with cats, we won’t adopt to homes with small children. *** Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal. We do not reserve animals, unless and until we have approved your application, provided the animal is still available at the time we receive your application. The first APPROVED application we receive will be considered. We are NOT a first come, first serve rescue!! We adopt our rescues out to the RIGHT home, not just A home. Only responsible pet owners need apply. Applying to adopt does NOT commit you to the adoption until you’ve met the pet (unless you already have). **** This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La. We are 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to rescue small-breed dogs and a handful of cats and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes.
