Story
My apologies for such a long bio of the ever so delightful K9 Ada but good things are worth a good read!!!  What’s up world? My name is Ada but my foster mama calls me Ava. She can’t seem to get my name straight. It’s clear I am a black German Shepherd Dog (GSD) as you humans call my breed. So that means I also shed a lot as I have a nice dense coat. An indicator that I do need regular bathing and brushing as with any breed of dog just not the high maintenance stuff like those doodles out there (I hear they have it ruff). My foster mama being a groomer herself can’t express the importance of maintaining a beautiful coat and well manicured nails on any breed. I am rather awesome though for my grooming. I love the high velocity dryer (it’s fun to bite at the air but feels amazing on my bum) too. Okay enough of that now..... The humans believe I am around four years old give or take. All I know is I feel like I am one or two. I have super awesome ball (tennis balls are my favorite) drive and love a good game of fetch. I will play for hours if allowed. Heck, I will do anything for that yellow tennis ball!!!! My foster mama often says, “I’m a Lab stuck in a GSD body”. I assume that’s a good thing, right?!? I am a pretty happy go luck young lady and willing to please my human. I do love my kennel and kennel up nicely when asked. I actually prefer to sleep in it at night and during the day while my current human goes to work. Maybe once I truly bond with my new human(s) I will want to be more with them? I do love my space when it comes to my kennel and the items it may hold. My foster mama keeps nothing in it. She knows me all too well in such a short period with her. If you need to reach into my kennel to get something i.e. a bowl, a ball, or a blanket. I ask you to please do it while I am not in it as I will get a little passive over my things. I will give you plenty of warnings (low rumble growl and bark) of my disapproval of you reaching in my kennel while I am in it. Please don’t make me go all GSD on you about it. I mean they are mine after all right? I was at SICSA before HALO K9 took me in. Unfortunately one of the staff members missed my warnings and I did bite her as she was  reaching down for something. It wasn’t a bad bite but it’s definitely frowned upon in the human world. That’s probably my only negative thing about me you will read. I have not shown any aggression towards my foster mama or her pack. She knows what upsets me and fixed it by not having anything in the kennel. I am a pleasure to go on walks with and hiking. I am really not a leash puller but after all my foster mama is a trainer. She knows how to make me walk like a lady. So saying that I might pull with my new human(s) that doesn’t know me too well. I surely will take full advantage of that, you bet ya!!! I do well in public places as I have had some Petsmart outings. We also went to Rural King and OMG they have BUNNIES!!!   My foster mama does advice to better to get to know me and like with any new dog is to see a trainer. I mean more like a one on one type too. I will get distracted with a group of dogs and to someone else I might sound well unfriendly towards that dog in a small space (totally normal behavior more than humans might thing). What can I say I still have that loud GSD bark even though I act more like a Lab per my foster mama (that’s rather insulting the more I think about it). I do know my sit very well and I have a pretty decent recall (come), in the backyard anyways. I am not a fence jumper or at least I haven’t had the need to jump it yet (wink wink). I also make a great travel  companion as I do love my car rides. I am very respectful of the home and tend to not get on your furniture. I also will do great in a home either as an only dog or with another dog for as long as they are the same size or bigger than me. I tend to run over the little dogs like they aren’t even there. Why do we even have little dog? I currently live in a home with five other doggies and guests doggies that come and go often. I have no issues with any of them. I also don’t bother my foster mama’s outdoor kitty. She will test me on the indoor possibilities with a kitty. When it comes to smaller humans I am sure I am fine but my foster mama will test that too for those whom are asking. I feel I will do best with older children (15 plus) as they will respect (understanding) my need for space around my kennel area more. Finally, that  crooked snout of mine that you might have noticed. They believe unfortunately this was more than likely done by human hands at some point in my past as I also am missing a K9 on that side. It could very well be a birth defect but they doubt that. I only know the truth and it’s ok I find it that has added to my fun personality. Well, I  don’t want to give away too much about me as I want something for my new human(s) to discover about me like my love of playing in the water. Story
The lady has decided to keep me!!! I am no longer available for adoption! My name is LuAnna which is German for warrior. I ran the farm with my brother. I lived outside in the snow, in the rain, in Thunderstorms curled up tightly against him for any sort of warmth & safety. I ate animals that I hunted & barely had dry food given to me. The water that was offered was provided in a bowl that had water so old it turned green or I would find water out of the creek. I was scared to put my head up & I always flinched because my owner would hit me. Then one day a lady said enough was enough & took me from this abuse. She saved me from the farm & took me to her house. She picked nearly 40 ticks off of me & told the person she'd have to keep me to treat me for prevention of more ticks. That next day I gave birth to 2 puppies despite me being an 8 mos old baby myself Thanks to my brother. I am a great loving Mom to my babies but need to be spayed once they are weaned.

Story
Hi I'm Lenny,  I am a young GSD who requires an experienced adopter. I came to Halo from a county shelter where I lived for 8 months.  You see I came into the shelter very fear aggressive and I could not be handled and I was secluded and never placed up for adoption.  I bonded with several shelter workers and they fell completely in love with me because they discovered that when I trusted them that I gave them my whole heart! They were able to do absolutely anything to me and actually dressed me up in halloween costumes...I was the cutest dragon ever!! So..I came to Halo and I had to trust more people.  I bonded immediately to the director of Halo but I soon began to guard her against anyone.  She worked and worked socializing me and as my anxiety reduced I began to welcome other people into our social group.  Now I have so many friends at Halo, I walk on the bike path, and I've even walked in Lowes and pet stores.  I am muzzle trained and to be safe I am muzzled during my outtings but to be honest many GSD are muzzled or should be muzzled because they are fierce guarders.  Anyway...I am such a lover of my person.  I give kisses, cuddle, and love to be with them.  Now with such guarding behavior some people would think Halo is crazy for putting me up for adoption.  But I am ready to find my special person.  This special person MUST be experienced with GSD and how about a retired K9 handler?? My personality is amazing and I know the people at Halo will cry and miss me terribly when I leave but they know it's time for me to go to my forever person....LOVE Lenny!!  ##479714##
