Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- Very playful and especially loves toy mice and string toys - Likes being petted once she knows you - Not a fan of being picked up and held - Likes comfy spots and quiet environments - Has done well with other cats - Is curious about gentle dogs - Likes to take things very slow, so plan on giving her plenty of time to settle in This cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life! HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway program -- a program designed to give cats a vacation from the shelter and let them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. While vacation is fun, there really is no place like home, so please consider adopting one of these deserving cats! As part of this program, their adoption fee is just $50 each (or $75 for a pair)! To learn more about this cat or schedule a time to meet it, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org Primary Color: Brown Tiger Weight: 9.86 Age: 3yrs 8mths 0wks

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- Loves treats - they're the way to his heart! - Independent guy who likes to make his own decisions about his life but can be incredibly sweet when he's feeling affectionate - Can take a while to warm up but once you're his person he loves being near you - Very smart! He has learned tricks, including sit and spin! - Loves cat trees and looking out windows - Likes balls, feather toys, wand toys and interactive toys - Can be shy at times and may go find a quiet place to relax when new people are around or there's more activity than normal - Has lived with dogs and other cats but prefers a slow introduction to new pets and prefers pets who respect his personal space - Looking for a calm, relaxed home with people who will play and cuddle with him but also respect his space when he needs that - Kids are way too much for him (needs a mature home) - Has had difficulty clearing an upper respiratory infection at the shelter and may show symptoms during times of stress (more info at ARL) HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway program -- a program designed to give cats a vacation from the shelter and let them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This cat is participating in our Camp Purr barn cat program, which is designed for feral or very semi-feral cats that would be happiest living outside as barn cats. Adopters must provide shelter and food/water to these cats year round and need to be willing to work with our Camp Purr team to ensure these cats are acclimated appropriately and humanely to a new barn cat environment. Because these cats are familiar with the other cats they are living with currently, we require that all Camp Purr cats be adopted with at least one other Camp Purr cat. The adoption fee for each cat in this program is just $25, and all cats have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.HOW TO ADOPT: These cats are available by appointment only to ensure our cat team has adequate time to assist you. Please contact Kailyn at kricci@arl-iowa.org if you are interested in adopting or learning more about this program. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 6.54 Age: 3yrs 8mths 3wks
