*** My adoption fee will be waived October 20 - 22 thanks to my friends at Subaru! Learn more about the event at www.mspca.org/subaru http://www.mspca.org/subaru *** Howie has arrived and he is ready to let the world know...by baying his houndy heart out! Howie is a hound through and through - he`s handsome, super silly, loves to sniff...and he will probably tell you by using his voice that he is having a GREAT time! Howie could potentially live with a dog who is ok with an awkward, loud teenager, and may do well with children old enough to navigate a large, energetic dog! If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, please click on the blue Inquire button above, fill out the form, and stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) theyre interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

This is a courtesy posty, but ArkanPaws will provide the transportation to New England from Arkansas  where this sweet girl is located. The family is asking $100 for the adoption fee and we can provide the transport for $100, so the entire adoption fee is $200 total.   "We acquired Pockets from my husbands grandparents and before we had kids. (She was a stray when she arrived at their house) . Tihs sweet girl is housebroken, loves people, human affection, and  especially the outdoors. Pockets is very smart and loyal and  would have made a great hunting dog had she been properly trained. We think she is around 8 years old. She is nervous around other dogs and would need supervised introductions. We think she would be the perfect pet for an older couple, single guy/ girl, veteran, or family with older (teenage) kids. Must have a backyard. And option to come inside during bad weather, since she is afraid of storms.   ##502053##

Story
'She has a gentle way of resting her chin on my knee or arm when seeking affection.'' This is from Callie's foster mom, Nancy, who several weeks ago picked up a dog who barely made eye contact, was anxious and untrusting. Life hasn't always been kind to Callie - found abandoned in a parking lot at six months old, she was lucky enough to be fostered and then adopted by one of our volunteers. Sadly, though Callie recently lost her mom; family members tried keeping Callie, but her anxiety made it not viable so they reached out for help and off she went to Nancy's house to start the next phase of her life.It has taken some time but this girl has come so far and is ready to move to a home with her new forever person - ideally someone who has all the time in the world just for her, time to give her to adjust and who will understand it might take several weeks for her to rest her chin on your knee. Callie is approximately 7 years old, a plott hound mix, approx. 50 lbs. Those are just the basics. What's important about her is the way she looks at you, how she wiggles when she sees you and how she lets you know when she trusts you by resting her head on your lap.... Callie is a total sweetheart. She walks well on a leash and that's a good thing because, although a bit timid, she absolutely loves to go for walks! If you have room in your home and your heart for a sweet and deserving girl in need please consider Callie - watching her learn to trust you will do your own heart good.Name: CallieBreed: Plott Hound mixSex: FemaleAge: 7-8 yearsWeight: 61 poundsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: NegativeMicrochipped: YesMedical: Is on Prozac daily due to anxiety and was started on allergy shots due to red eyes. The number of individual inquiries is overwhelming and we are finding it difficult to respond to each one. We cannot guarantee you will receive a timely response.Paws New England is a rescue, not a shelter, and as such we do not have our dogs housed in one location - they are in foster homes both in New England and in our southern foster homes.   If you're interested in a specific dog, please complete a short online application and you will receive a reply within 48 hours so you can ask questions. At present, if a dog is listed on our website, the dog is considered still available HOWEVER, may have applications that have come in before yours but it's still too early to know if any are a good match; therefore we encourage you to apply.NOTICE WITH REGARD TO LOCATION OF DOGS:  Please note: Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. We do not have a brick and mortar building to house the dogs we rescue. We have found that dogs in foster homes are much more adoptable because they have been observed in a home setting. Dogs listed with Paws New England typically reside in various locations throughout the south (primarily Tennessee, Texas, and Arkansas) and New England (not necessarily in the state of Rhode Island). You will be notified by the adoption coordinator of the location of the dog you are interested in so you have the ability to decide whether to pursue adoption or not.Dogs transported to New England are done so at a fee of $150.00 paid directly to the transporting company by Paws New England; no additional transport costs are responsibility of adopter. This fee is included in the adoption donation.Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your dog will help others in need. All known information about the animal is listed above. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history.Paws New England abides by the dog importation regulations set forth in the states of MA, CT, NH and RI.

Story
Meet Christopher! He is a 3 year old mixed breed weighing approximately 40 lbs. Because of the brindle coloring, I'm thinking he may have some plott hound. Christopher is a high energy boy who needs lots of love. He loves people and would enjoy long walks/runs and would probably make a great hiking companion. He would do best with an active family and as the only dog. He gets along with some other dogs but prefers all the attention from his humans and would rather not share. He is not good with cats. Christopher is in a small shelter in Lytle, TX and can be transported to your area once adopted. His adoption fee is $185 and transport, via Rescue Road Trips, is $185. If you are interested in adopting Christopher, please call Lytle Animal Care and Control at 830-709-3832.
