Story
Momma was found and rescued along with her 8 puppies (underneath a house) and Lucas (who is likely the daddy of the puppies) right before hurricane Harvey hit.  The puppies were about a week old when we finally got them out and Momma seemed very grateful for a safe place and consistent food and water for her and her babies.  She's an EXCELLENT momma!!  Even with limited food for herself, she kept her babies fat and healthy.  She's young, about 2 years old, we think.  She has come a long way in a short time.  She has come out of her shell and loves greeting people when they come home and is very fond of the children in the house.  She loves to get love and attention.  She's also discovered that she is a big fan of air conditioning :D  She was very tolerant of other dogs around her babies, though occasionally she would turn into momma bear and run everyone out for some peace and quiet.  Most of her babies have found their forever homes and now she's looking for hers.  She's got quite the personality and can certainly light up your day.  She is spayed. microchipped, and all current vaccines. Ask about this brave and sweet girl today and how to meet her and make her part of your forever family.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Theo is a great Big cuddle bear! He would be a special needs dogTheo is a gorgeous Brindle boy with a flash of white on his chest and a black face that just screams to be kissed.  Theo is a confident boy who loves to play in the yard with his siblings, or play tug with his siblings.  At the end of the day, before we go to bed, he has to have a snuggle with mom on the couch.   As adorable as this boy is, he will be happiest with a sedate household that just want an adorable loving guy to snuggle with.  He will not be a running companion, nor will he do well with lots of stairs.  But Theo loves to go in the car and slow walks around the neighborhood. Theo is anxious to learn and will be an awesome family member.   He is best suited to a family with a yard.   He has grown up with chiuahuah's and larger dogs and is a very compassionate guy who plays gently with his friend who is special needs.   He was a bottle baby and has only known love and affection.    Theo has a depth perception problem so doesnt like to do stairs or cross over colors that he isnt familiar with. Like on walkway crossings. Theo had a genetic defect and both of his back knees have had TPLO surgery to correct.  His right ankle fluxates, but there is nothing to be done with it.  This young man is perfect. He loves to cuddle and lives his treats. Theo has the sweetest purring sound when he is playing with the other dogs. He sounds like a bull horn when he gets nervous. I cant imagine anyone could love this boy more than I do, but he is available for adoption to the right family who can care and love him.   Please contact info@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online at www.aarfhouston.org/forms . Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet. Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.

Story
Annabeth is a very sweet 4yr old Catahoula female. She is spayed and microchipped and up to date on her rabies shot. She has never shown any kind of aggression towards people or other dogs. All she wants is to cuddle and be loved on. Annabeth needs a lot of attention or adequate exercise to be happy. She will be happiest in a home with another dog to keep her company. We are looking to rehome her because her need for attention and pets has made her a problem with our newborn son. She does not look to harm him but in her quest for attention she has accidentally scratched him and as a new mom I can not handle the fear of her accidentally harming him again because she is being neglected and it’s not fair to her to be constantly locked up. That no life. A family with older kids and time to take her for walks or to the park would be a perfect fit. All this sweet girl wants in life is to be loved on. We just no longer have the time or the ability to give her that kind of attention.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jolee the Jogging Dog HI THERE!  ...and thank you for checking out my profile.  My name is Jolee and I'm a happy girl who makes a wonderful companion. I'm gentle, sweet and very smart. Don't let the white in my muzzle fool you - I am only four years old and still have a lot of years of love and affection left in me.   Some of my favorite things are taking walks, running in the backyard, taking naps and playing in the water.  Funny thing about me:  I sleep with my tongue out - my Foster Mom says that it's a SUPER cute quirk!  My  Foster Mom also wants you to know that I would be a great addition to a home that has a jogger in the family.  We go for a walk/jog about twice a week - which is the highlight of my day.   I know basic commands, I walk well on a leash and I get along with cats, kids and other dogs. I would love to have the opportunity to show you how happy I will make you; and if you have any questions about me, please contact my Foster Mom.  Thanks again for visiting!  Love and kisses, Jolee     Please contact info@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog.
