Pyro - Blind Special Needs

English Pointer

Male, 13 yrs 5 mos
Denver, CO
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, Needs special attention, House-trained, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Pyro is a sweet and social boy who loves people and does well with other dogs. He is completely blind. He came from an abusive situation, and the vets do not know exactly what caused the blindness, but it does not appear that he will recover. He has adapted well and still can have a wonderful quality of life with the right family. He is a very human centered dog, very affectionate and sweet. Calmer than most Pointers. He will need someone who has a stable home environment with safeguards in place to ensure he does not injure himself. He plays and runs like any normal dog and will adjust to new surroundings once he gets settled. He will do best in a home where humans are home more of the day. Pyro is a rescue from Messinia Greece. We will transport him to the U.S. in June if we can find him a home. We cannot rescue him unless we have a home waiting by June 17.

Story
Hello! I am Bernard and I am in Greece (yes, that Greece, the country in Europe). Honestly I don't know how I ended up running in the middle of the highway. One day I am a beloved hound dog the next day they decide I am not good so they have to dump me. There are no shelters in Greece as you know them in the States. People here just try to rescue as many dogs as they can. Anyway, I am in a foster home now and I am looking for a forever home. I love dogs especially young dogs I can play with. If you leave the hose on you can totally trust I won't go anywhere and I will try to get that water stream for hours. I love eating from kongs and my favorite thing is to retrieve. I have an excellent recall too! I am looking for a family who will appreciate my silly and always happy and energetic nature. I can travel anywhere in the States as long as you are ready to give me a place in your heart. Love, Bernard

Details
Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Wrigley is a very smart dog but stubborn. I have put him in boarding training, 2 weeks private training and 6 weeks group lessons. He still shows extreme aggression towards other animals. He needs a home where someone is trained on handling this kind of behavior. I got him July of 2019 and have tried to work with him and have spent over 2000 on trying to get him better. We live in an apartment complex, he’d do better in a yard. He deserves a great loving home. Thank you.
