Story
Hi there! My name is Lonnie. I am an unbelievably happy girl. My whole body wiggles with a zest for life. I have adorable marking with circles around each eye, looking like I have on goggles. I just know we are going to be best friends. I lived on the street for a while before being picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter. Sadly, there were so many of us homeless pets, that the shelter was full with nowhere to keep me. I was minutes away from losing my life when a volunteer from Red Collar Rescue rushed to the shelter and pulled me to safely…whew…that was close. Now I’m looking for a home and family. I love to run and play. Playtime isn’t sometime I just dabble in; I play at the professional level – all in. The most important thing your need to know about me, however – I LOVE TOYS. "Toy Fanatic" may be the right term. If allowed I would carry a toy in my mouth everywhere, even on walks. People and other dogs might give me strange looks, but I’ve gotta keep my toy friends close. I’m energetic and athletic (would make a great running companion), but I have my softer side too. I like to give and get hugs and kisses. Snuggles and naps are the best after playtime activity. And of course I like treats. Please e-mail info@redcollar.org to learn more about making me part of your family. XOXO! Lonnie

Story
Meet Harper. This poor girl was recently rescued from deplorable conditions along with two other dogs. Harper and the others were chained up in a yard and severely neglected. Their owner had died and they were just left without any food, water or anything else. BARC was called and picked up all three. Once at the shelter, it was likely that they would never make it to the adoption wing since they were in just too poor of shape. One of the three was pulled by another rescue, but Harper and the other dog (Hudson) were left. Once we saw how bad they looked we knew we had to help.   We went and got them and had them evaluated by our vet. Of course they had worms and parasites. Their skin was in bad shape too, especially Harper, who has virtually no hair and was scratching herself until she bled. Upon examination, we also noticed that she has almost no teeth. They have likely been worn down due to chewing on rocks and the chain. Despite all she's been through, Harper is very sweet!   Harper is doing amazing and in a fabulous foster home. She is very loving and has come out of her shell. Harper is a Pointer mix and now weighs about 50 pounds. She is great with other dogs and has great house manners. She is so calm and well-behaved.   She has gone literally from rags to riches and we want to find the most awesome forever home where she can be treated like a princess. Please consider giving this darling girl a forever home! www.scoutshonor.org

Story
Bart is a 2 ½ yr young, 50lb, pointer / plott hound mix.  He was found as a young puppy, when his momma led a rescuer to the abandoned house where she was keeping him.   His mom has since found a home but Bart just has not found the family that has been looking for him yet.  One reason he has not found a forever home, he does not show well at adoption events.  He reacts in his kennel, being vocal and reactive to the hustle around him.  He does very well in his kennel at home though.  Bart likes people and other dogs but sometimes can be a little timid and needs some reassurance.  He is a very sweet boy, just needs patience and tender love.
