Hi! I'm Jewel. Come play with me! Due to the incredible number of  puppy  applications at this time, we will be taking all  puppy  applicants through a general adoption pre-approval process before confirming a particular  puppy  is available. This will allow us to help you find your best fit!  While we will not be accepting applications for specific  puppies  at this time, we encourage you to fill out the application today to get the process started!  JEWEL NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Jewel    Best Guess for Breed: Pointer/terrier   Best Guess for Age:  10 weeks as of 4/2/2020      SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  9 pounds   Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Jewel is Looking For:  My siblings and I are in a shelter, and we all can't wait to find our forever homes. I want a family to take me on long walks and romps, play with me, and take all the snuggles I'm ready to give them!    What My Foster Says About Me: We will update once Jewel is here and has spent some time with her foster!   Puppy Vetting Requirements:  Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated.  It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time.  Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 7/15/20.  There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date.   Your new puppy will need to work on their housetraining and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online HERE .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at  www.luckydoganimalrescue.org .    BE A FOSTER!!!  Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org! Story
THIS DOG IS NOT A LUCKY DOG. THIS DOG IS A COURTESY POST FOR COLLIE RESCUE.  Please contact info@savecollies.org if you are interested! Name: Holly     Best Guess for Breed: Pointer / Hound Mix  Best Guess for Age: 3-5 years   SEX: female Currently Living at: Foster About Holly: Welcome, Holly!  She may not be a collie, but our rescue came across her at a shelter in southwestern Virginia and we couldn't leave her behind. She is a very sweet, gentle girl who likes to be low-key and low-maintenance. In fact, we have yet to hear her bark or bay. We think she is 3 to 5 years old and we believe she is a pointer and hound mix - with a lot more pointer in her.  We have seen her go into a classic pointer position  upon seeing deer, bunnies, and birds, and hearing the neighborhood owl. Holly is currently living with a foster family, who says that she enjoys snoozing, exploring the yard and neighborhood, and getting her big floppy ears rubbed.  She loves going on walks, with her tail is in constant motion as her nose sweeps back and forth as she gets to know the lay of the land. We are teaching her how to walk on a leash without having to sniff everything in her sight. She does really well meeting new people and other dogs, and doesn't get overly excited or wound up.  We think she would do best in a home where she is not left alone for long periods of time, as she needs to pee every few hours and likes to get out and explore. She doesn't know formal commands yet, but she will come when called with a whistle. One of our first priorities is to help Holly gain about 10 pounds, as she’s underweight.  Luckily, she has a hearty appetite! She is housebroken and crate-trained.  In between walks, she is content snoozing in her crate or in sunny spots in the backyard.  Holly is a really sweet girl, and we hope we can find her a happy home.  TO ADOPT FROM COLLIE RESCUE:  If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Collie Rescue's standard adoption fee is $350.
