Story
My roommate and I received Xena from a friend who is relocating and couldn’t take her with them. Not much info was given other than she’s up to date on shots and she’s allergic to chicken. She is a GREAT dog, but only as an only child. She doesn’t get along very well with other dogs although we were slowly working with her the owner of the apartment we’re in says she has to go.

Story
KANE -  10 years old, 46 pounds, house trained, good with dogs, older children, no cats. GET OUT YOUR Tissues, folks. We’re looking for a very very special home for 10 year old KANE. Kane was surrendered to us after spending his whole life with that previous family. His whole works has been turned upside down, inside out, you name it, it’s happened. We have discovered Kane to have advanced Heartworm disease. VBACAC has already started medication for this and will continue it through his adoption. You can see the results of the disease in how Kane moves. He’s slow, quiet, gentle. I was told to be careful how far we walked. Quickly I discovered why. He stopped. He lied down. That was it. An ACO was there and helped me by carrying Kane back inside. So sad to see him in this condition. Would very much prefer seeing him in a comfortable home with a loving family watching over him. Kane is house trained and good with other dogs. Given his age and health condition, I’d guess the more calm the other dog the better. Also, due to the fact he has bitten a child before, we suggest no young children. Kane needs a soft spot. Could that be you? Please make an appointment online and come meet him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
