**PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO PRIOR TO SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. WILL REQUIRE A MEET-AND-GREET WITH A REHAB TEAM TEAM LEADER FOR GUIDANCE**Birch is a young, high energy, Pomeranian/ Chihuahua mix. He recently went into foster care, where he has really started to blossom. Birch gets along great with other dogs, and will benefit from having another high energy, playful dog in his forever home. Birch is initially shy and takes time to trust the humans in his life, but once he gets to know someone, he enjoys attention from them. Because he is shy, Birch is considered a high flight risk and will need an experienced home with a fenced in yard to help keep him safe. Birch walks great on a leash and enjoys his time walking. He is also doing great with his potty training skills. While his favorite time is play time, a close second for Birch is treat time. Birch loves treats and is very food motivated. With time and patience, Birch will continue to blossom. If you're interested in learning more about Birch, please complete an application today at www.milldogrescue.org - - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
If you're searching for a devoted and loving best friend....Bear is the pup you want to have around! Bear, at just about 4 - 4 years old and 8 lbs (the perfect size for neighborhood walks as well as lap time), is just naturally a lover ....when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. Bear is a truly beautiful Pomeranian..with a bit of Tibetan Spaniel in the mix. He has all the traits that make these very beautiful and personality-plus dogs a very lovable and desirable breed mix. Bear enjoys his time with his rescuer so much that he joins her just about everywhere she goes...it's important to Bear to be a true best friend! He loves his people and would definitely win a lap-dog (or couch hogger) award. Bear cuddles close with his beautiful head draped over his favorite person's leg...an occasional kiss from Bear is inevitable. He's a sensitive guy and derives so much joy from his time spent with kind, dog-loving people. Bear is a young, healthy guy who will love his family with all his heart. He would enjoy another kind and gentle dog to play with (although if his family is loving and present, Bear would do fine alone as well). He would love nothing more than to lie in the sunshine enjoying a beautiful day with a doggie or human friend. Bear would have so much fun exploring and taking walks along the Colorado paths. He is always open to new activities...just say the word and up he jumps for a car ride or just a sociable walk around the neighborhood. Bear is a very affectionate and loving dog. We would love to see him in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward carrying) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and kind dog. We'd hate to see Bear left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home...we think he's too sensitive for that. A family that works just part-time, from a home office or at a pet-friendly workplace would be perfect for Bear. He's such an amazing dog and just the right size and temperament to accompany his people just about anywhere. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Bear in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of hugs. A positive reinforcement/force free group training class promotes great behavior and confidence for a smart little guy who is learning about the world. These classes are so important in teaching dogs their skills that we're unwilling to adopt Bear out to a family that doesn't choose this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. Bear has the stunning and cottony-soft coat of the purebred Pomeranian. He will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement is an excellent choice for coat care as well as longevity). The forever family that we're searching for will understand that a lifelong commitment to grooming and great nutrition is mandatory for the coat care and excellent health of this beautiful little guy. Bear will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Bear's neuter and microchip immediately after his arrival in Colorado if one of our rescue vets is used. Bear will be arriving on transport in Denver in late March to early April (we'll update when date is finalized) If interested, applications are currently being accepted and can be found at https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly best friend, please fill out completely and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Bear, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
