I lived on an Amish farm for 10 years of my life and had babies for them to sell. They also had a German Shepherd who bit my face and damaged my eye. It's okay now and doesn't bother me one bit. In fact I think it makes quite the statement to my beauty. I am a sweet girl that loves to get rubs, go for walks, and roll in the grass. I do well with pottying outside, walk well on a leash, and am crate trained. I love everyone I meet whether furry or human, but seeing the doggie doctor is stressful so I take some medicine before I go to calm my fears. It takes me a few days to trust new humans, but once I'm settled in I can be picked up without issue. I wasn't ever groomed regularly so I do require patience when its time to get brushed, but I am getting better each time I have my spa day. My heart is full of love, but due to a heart murmur I take meds to keep my heart strong. I am almost 11 years old and weigh 13 pounds. She knows no strangers whether human or furry and has lots of pep in her step. Dottie came to PPR from a high kill shelter after she was surrendered by her owner. Unfortunately, we discovered this sweatheart lived a life of neglect where she was left alone for day and they forgot to feed her. She has large scars on the back of her head and at her tail from some unknown trauma during her life. However, she has taken it all in stride and enjoys the company of other dogs. She also loves to be with her people. Dottie is about 11 pounds and said to be 15 years old. She is completely healthy except some luxating patellas and cataracts. This beautiful soul has so much love to give and life to live and we would love to see that happen with a family of her very own that will make up for all the neglect she endured. Dottie walks well on a leash, loves car rides, and gets along with other pets flawlessly. She is pretty good with potty habits, but it does take a few days to get in the routine of things. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Say hello to Mousie Ray! This little 5-year-old, 5-pound squirt is destined to be somebody's baby. He is quite a character and will melt your heart instantly. We are looking for a very particular home for Mousie. He needs to be with someone who is home more often than not and someone without other pets. He loves to sleep with you, give kisses, and gently play. He does have severe food allergies and has been tested on just about every protein; therefore, his new family should be able to afford Zignature Kangaroo soft food formula (as Mouse had no teeth) and kangaroo or rabbit treats. The food will cost in the neighborhood of $50/month. Other than that, this sweet boy has no other health concerns. Mousie is nervous around strangers and goes into flight mode with loud noises. His new family should be cognizant of this at all times. His furever home should not consist of children, or grandchild who visit often. He has also mastered the trick to opening crates...from the inside, so we have to use a leash clasp to secure him in a crate when necessary. We are hoping a crate is not necessary in his new home, which is why we want an adopter who is not away from the home due to a full-time job and one without other animals. We recently discovered that sweet, innocent, little Mouse will attack other animals if they have a gentle demeanor. While he has no teeth, those little jaws of his can pinch hard and hurt other animals. He appears to be fine with other dogs that he cannot dominate, but we are not willing to take any chances. He is mostly house-trained, so long as you ensure he goes potty outside several times a day. Just like most humans, he doesn't like to go out in the cold and must be made to do his business outside. He is current on core vaccinations, is microchipped, and has is free from all parasites. Applicants must have a secure fenced yard, no children or other animals, a quiet environment, under the age of 70, and home more often than not Mouse won't last long when the right person finds him. His adoption fee is $250 ($150 for senior citizens 65+). You can submit an application at PomPaws.org.
