About this Dog: Name: Moon Pie Breed: Mixed - Possibly Pomeranian-Chihuahua Approximate Age:   3-5 yr Gender:  Male Weight:  12 lb Adoption Fee:  $400 Why in Rescue:  stray/lost dog General Profile:  Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  Moon Pie has been in a foster home so he could be evaluated better to find just the right fit for him.  Here is what his foster mom has to say about him: Loving Introvert seeks same Moon Pie is a sweet, loving boy, but he is picky about his friends. It takes him awhile to open up to new people. He's not overly shy or aggressive towards strangers, he's mostly indifferent. He will not approach strangers , usually he will keep his distance or just walk past, but if they try to grab him, he might snap. Once he has someone to love he doesn't really feel he needs anyone else. He is not an affection loving Golden retriever, he will not go up to random people for affection. Once he trusts you MoonPie lives for the belly rub! While he's extremely loving, he does not need to be touching you at all times, velcroed to your side. He is content to lay on a dog bed or on the other end of the couch.  You never will be alone again. He will accompany you to every room, yes every room, he even wants to be in the bathroom with you. He is a playful boy and loves his stuffed squeaky toys, and for some strange reason, he likes plastic bottle caps. He is house trained, and loves car rides. Moon is not a fan of big dogs. He loves to play with dogs his own size, but will pick fights with big dogs. You will have to watch doors and gates, if Moon thinks you are leaving without him, he will try to dart through and run, and coming back when called is not a priority. Original Profile:  Moon Pie was a stray/lost dog so we don't have a background or history.  We don't know if he lived with other pets, or children, or if he was housetrained.  Moon Pie was a little nervous being handled when he was at animal control, but he seems more relaxed now that he is in rescue.  He is a cute little guy who wants a family to love again.  Moon Pie does have some stranger danger and takes time to warm up to new people.  He is happiest with the people he knows.  He is looking for a home with adults only, or older children, where there isn't a lot of new people coming or going.  He will not do will in an apartment or condo where he would be expected in see new people all the time.  He can also be reactive to other dogs, so may prefer to be the only dog or have a slow introduction to other dogs. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  If you are interested in any of our dogs, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we will set up a time for you to come and meet them.   Adoption Procedures: 1.  Completely fill out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog.  We will be checking with your vet if you have had pets, calling your landlord (if any) and checking a personal reference, before we contact you about visiting the adoptables.  Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2.  If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in.   3.  If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her.  In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day.  If all the vetting hasn't been done yet, we will hold the pet for you until the vet work is completed.  4.  If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application.  You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time.  Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us!   The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $475 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested and started on preventative, microchipped, and dewormed.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you will also receive an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training for $50 (up to $200 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, Small Dogs Big Hearts, or Shy & Reactive Dog Class.  You must start the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Many are in various foster homes getting extra one on one attention getting them ready for their new homes.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Dog Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $50 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***Other than during open hours, we do not show dogs/cats without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS

Story
Petunia is a beautiful little Pomeranian - Chihuahua blend (PomChi). She is super sweet and loves to have laps at the ready. She is a snuggler and loves to play. Contrary to her picture, she is not yet a licensed driver. LOL. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped with free registration. She also comes with her interstate health certificate from her veterinary examination prior to leaving Texas, which certifies her to be in good condition. Our dogs also come with free 30-days of health insurance which reimburses you for any vet you use for illnesses and injuries which commence during that period, as per the directions in the flier which comes in your adoption packet. Due to social distancing and lockdowns, and in full compliance with the regulations relating to same, we will be delivering her directly to the family which first places an exclusive hold deposit as set out below, arriving on Friday, April 10, in the Chicago/Northern IL, Southern Wisconsin areas along our travel route. She may also be picked up at the PetSmart in Pleasant Prairie, WI, 9887 76th St, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, on Saturday, April 11, 10 am to 5 pm. PLEASE READ WITH REGARD TO PRICING. Petunia is one of a select few of our rescues whom we believe are purebred or a popular designer blend which we adopt out at a near market rate in order to use those funds to finance our program of readying additional dogs, puppies and kittens which we provide for free to receiving shelters in the northern U.S. So, instead of only one rescue dog out of Texas, the fee enables us to ready for, and transport, many more puppies and/or kittens to receiving shelters on each of our trips from Houston to Wisconsin every 3 weeks. Our goal is to get as many homeless animals out of south Texas, where we have a severe pet overpopulation crisis (due mostly to our temperate weather where strays breed year-round and don’t tend to perish due to cold weather.) The COVID-19 situation has made pet homelessness even more dire in South Texas. Her adoption fee is $900. She is available for an exclusive hold with a deposit of $300. If you are serious about making a hold deposit, please contact us at DogTrailRides@gmail.com or text or call 832-338-7041. We take payments through Zelle, PayPal, CashApp, or we take card numbers over the phone and process them through Square. All of these methods provide a receipt. Holds are handled on a first-come, first-served basis with respect to the first person to place a deposit as instructed by the rescue. Her adoption is same day – if you appear and believe she is a good fit, you will be able to take her with you upon payment of the balance of the adoption fee (sales tax applies) and execution of our standard adoption contract. The deposit is refundable so long as you show up prior to expiration of the hold period, should you decide not to adopt her. Showing up is a requirement to receive a refund of the deposit. Thank you for supporting our efforts to bring Texas dogs north to loving homes! You can read more about us at facebook.com/TxRescueRiders (Texas Rescue Riders). Note: As a rescue, we cannot guarantee breed. We rely on owner representations and veterinary opinions.
