DOB: 06/16/2016 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, respectful kids Requires a fenced yard:     Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hi, I’m Tibet! I’m a 3 year old Ori Pei, which is a mix between a Chinese Shar Pei and Pug! I am only about 28lbs. I have a few new favorite hobbies since moving in to my foster home: Treats! Oh, boy do I enjoy treats! And there are so many different kinds! Watching TV is pretty fun too... my foster mom thinks i’m hilarious because I actually do watch tv. And then there’s napping in these super soft dog beds. I guess you could say home life is pretty great! I get along well with my foster siblings and would need a dog in my forever home to continue to show me the ropes. I haven’t met any cats but, I don’t think I would mind them. I am a very good boy in my crate and getting better at potty training every day! I am still a little hesitant of people but my confidence has grown tremendously since coming into rescue. I would love a forever family to continue to show me what this good life is all about! Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:   Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Mamie is an absolute gem! She is incredibly sweet and happy girl. She likes everyone she meets, including other dogs and even cats. Mamie is easy to take everywhere, since she walks well on a leash and also enjoys car rides. Mamie is also very content just hanging out at home on the couch. She loves cuddling up on a lap any time she can. Mamie is house trained and eager to please. The only place she seems to be unhappy is in a crate. But there is really no need to crate her, since she is well behaved when home alone. Mamie would do best in a relatively calm home with older children, since a lot of commotion does seem to frighten her. But generally speaking, her tail is always wagging and she will capture your heart with her charm! Sadly we found a mass in her mouth that was determined to be cancerous ( either ameloblastoma or squamous cell carcinoma) and due to the location of the mass complete removal is impossible without a partial mandibulectomy (removal of the lower jaw). With high rates of recurrence after excision we do not feel it is worth putting her through that for a maybe cure. Eventually the tumor will invade the rest of the jawbone and began to break done the bone. Mamie will need to be monitored and managed until it is her time to say good-bye.  HOWEVER, at the present time you would never know there is anything wrong with this sweet girl.  She still is a little love and the sweetest companion.  She may have many years of love left to give! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!   Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Please fill out a bulldog application to meet Mercina: https://underdogrescuemn.com/bulldogs/ DOB:  08/10/2010 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: No Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: No Requires a fenced yard:  No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Meet Mercina - there is nothing in this world that this girl loves more than a nap on the couch. Nothing. She is a happy, lovable bulldog who appreciates short walks, like really short, and long naps, like really long.  She loves snuggling on the couch, snacks, and showing you her silly side.  Speaking of snacks, Mercina is quite a bit overweight and would love to drop a few pounts. Okay, maybe she doesn't, but she needs to much to her disapproval!  Mercina is on joint supplements and pain meds which would hopefully lessen as she loses about 10 pounds.  While being 9 years old, this girl has a spunky side to her that is sure to make you smile.  She is potty trained, crate trained, and walks well on leash.   Mercina does require a home where she would be the only dog.  She is also not fond of small, quick moving children so older, respectful kids would be required, but no kids would likely be best.  Mercina is a typical stubborn bulldog who likes things her way.  She reluctantly goes along with things that are not desired by her, but she let's you know her opinions if she is not interested. She is a funny girl who is looking for her perfect home to spend out her days in retirement at! Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.  Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one! This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. Her favorite thing in the whole wide world (besides treats) is to be cuddled up next to her human. Believe us, one look into her big brown eyes and she will have your heart melting!   Upon rescue, she was only able to take a few steps before falling over. She was unsteady as she had little to no strength built up in her legs. Her foster home worked with her daily to go on short walks to start building up her strength. Now she has hardly any issues walking and is running around like a happy camper! Stairs however, have been a learning process for  Edith . She is able to walk up a few steps, however she is still learning to walk up and down larger/longer staircases. Patience is key with  Edith . She has nothing but love to give you in return. She still gets a little nervous around new comers, however she warms up to anyone in a matter of minutes.  Edith  would do best in a home where someone either works from home or can come home on a lunch break to let her out and spend time with her. She thrives off of love and attention from her humans.    Edith  is the typical bulldog, she will do something when she wants, how she wants and on her own terms! With that being said, even though she is sticking her tongue out at you most of the time, she is eager to learn and catches on quickly to most things.    Edith  would do well in a house with another dog, however she is still learning how to “play” with other dogs and would do best without a dog that is extremely dominant. She would do great with another dog that can be patient with her and show her the “ropes” of learning her new environment. She would also do fine as an only dog as she loves cuddles and attention. Cats are unknown and older kids are okay - no young ones as she can have a hard time controlling her walking at times and likes to “bulldog” her way around. She will need a fenced in yard as she likes to take off and chase leaves and squirrels.    ***Please note you will need to be able to lift approx 45-50 pounds as  Edith  is still learning how to walk up and down stairs - a stair free home would be desired. She would do best in a house with carpet and less hardwood/vinyl flooring as her legs are still a bit wobbly at times and the carpet helps her feel more secure. She is working on potty training (about 75% trained) and is crate trained.  A home without small kids is preferred as to not knock Edith over with too much commotion. I’m a sweet, loving, curious, 6-year-old English Bulldog. I absolutely love snuggling, attention, and people. Don’t let my size fool you, I’m definitely a lap dog (or so I think). I’m really good at potty training on a good consistent schedule.  I’m good on a leash, but since I’m a Bulldog, I really don’t like going very fast or going too far.  As the weather is getting warmer, I love a short walk in the sunshine. I am also doing well with my crate training! I get along well with other dogs, both big and small. I would require another dog in my forever home to keep showing me the ropes; unless my humans worked from home or were home a good majority of the time.  I don’t have much experience with little humans or cats, so I’m not sure how’d I’d do around them. Given my sweet disposition, I think I’d do well, but I can’t say for sure just yet.  Toys are more of a comfort for me. I like to carry around soft plush toys, but I’m not much for playing with them. Did I mention I love people? My foster parents tell me I’m a really good dog. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving, cuddle bug, I would love to meet you! I would love to find a furever home with patient people who love to snuggle, are cool with me following them around, and provide me with nothing but unconditional love.
