Ol'Red is a charming 10 year young Redbone Coonhound. He's a big hunk and a really loving dude. He adores respectful children, pays no attention to cats, chickens, cows, horses or other dogs. He spends the majority of his day holding down the couch. He enjoys some time outside lounging in the sun on warm days, going for short walks and food! Red has lost some weight since joining his foster home which has helped his mobility. He does a good job at trying to convince all who will listen that he's starving :) He needs to be fed separately from other animals at meal times. Clear boundaries with anything food related must be enforced. If you’re looking for a hound to hike, run, or be your next exercise partner, Red is not for you. But if you’re looking for companionship, loyalty and a big beautiful doe eyed lover, Red is your man. For Red’s comfort, a single level home where minimal steps are required is preferred. And as much as Red enjoys the company of small humans, for his benefit, a child free or home with adolescent or older children is recommended. Due to the extent of Reds arthritis and joint damage, it is extremely crucial that he remain on a low calorie/ high omega 3 diet as well as strong anti-inflammatory and pain meds for the remainder of his years. X-rays can be provided to an approved applicant. Red is currently in foster care in Wallaceburg, Ontario. For an approved applicant transport can be provided within Ontario.
