Story
!!! AVAILABLE for Adoption at ACCT Philly !!!CHOCO A33794490Sweet, sweet Choco is back with us here at the shelter but would love to get back into a home. A few years ago Choco was brought here after he was an "outside" dog. He was adopted and learned how good home-living is but sadly his owners had to move and couldn't bring him along. Choco is a sweet senior now, approx. 7 years young and is as sweet as they come. He loves people and just oozes 'family dog'. He is a tall and lanky so using a harness when walking helps with his strength. He's sad being back here but quickly opens up and shows off his silly side and his cuddly side. Choco deserves the best forever home, so come meet him today!Dog meet: Choco and Oso: https://youtu.be/_r9V9TWlieYVideo of Choco: https://youtu.be/zEuTUyU8R6Y*2016 photos - https://flic.kr/s/aHskFYDydHIntake Type: (2/14/20) Owner/ Guardian Surrender -- Housing IssuesWeight: 64 lbsMedical Observation:(2/24) Patient is breaking with a URI. Patient has had ocular discharge since intake with reddened sclera. Patient currently has a slight degree of entropion of both lower eyelids- unclear if this is primary or secondary entropion. Recommend treating with course of erythromycin and doxycycline. If eye signs do not resolve, re-assess if entropion is still present and is true cause. Patient also has skin signs consistent with allergies and a wound to the lower left lip. (2/14) PE: Dog presented to intake as owner surrender. Dog looks healthy eyes, ears, and nose looks normal. Skin and coat is normal. Nothing concerning with the dog looks healthy overall.Behavior Observation:(2/24) Per Vet Staff -- Very friendly (2/15) Volunteer -- Choco was excited when he saw the leash, jumping at kennel door in a playful manner. Easy to leash and easy to return to kennel. Dog is very strong on leash, but much better when harnessed. Pulls towards other dogs while walking and whines and paces in run when seeing them. Started off very aloof, didn't appear to want to be bothered with handler. Did warm up after a while, and allowed all handling. Allowed handler to wipe "goopy eyes" numerous times. By the end of the interaction, actively was seeking attention and pets. No interest in toys or tag at this time. Evaluated Gold.(2/14) Per Previous Owner -- protective, active sensitive, eager to please, likes to be brushedThis animal is currently available through ACCT Philly's Adoptions Programs. Story
!!! AVAILABLE for Adoption at ACCT Philly !!!Brody - A43288874Intake Type: Owner surrender - Bite history 12/28Dog Meets:Brody and Muffin: https://youtu.be/uBNiU8fCcFYPersonality: Brody is a sweet 6 year old male that is looking for a quiet forever home. He is a little timid around new people and loud noises but really opens up once you get to know him! He is very sweet and affectionate and loves to stay by his companion's side. He loves to go on hikes in the park, long walks on quiet streets and plays well with other dogs. He would be a wonderful addition to a quiet home where he could live out his best dog days. He is incredibly well trained, and is housebroken. Brody was surrendered by his owner of four years because they worked very long hours and wanted a better life for him than they could give. Brody is scarred of being at the shelter because there are a lot of dogs there and loud noises all night long. He would thrive in a warm and loving home and would give back all his love in return. Brody is part Rhodesian Ridgeback and Greyhound and is roughly 40lbs. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, please contact ACCT or his foster parent at adoptbrodyboy@gmail.comWeight: 53.8 lbsMedical Observation: (12/31) Vet Check -- visual only exam performed. Patient is BAR in kennel, when approached kennel patient calmly walked over to kennel door and sat patiently. Patient is panting with light trembling entire time observed. Not exhibiting behavioral decline and no escalating or dangerous behaviors, but is nervous in kennel and constantly vigilant. Will prescribe short course of low dose of trazodone to see if any benefit to mild shelter anxiety. Per owner surrender sheet was previously on Trazodone 100mg PO BID x7 days as needed for behavior.Behavior Observation: (1/4) Volunteer Evaluation -- Tail low when first approached, came to front of kennel and sat for leash. Walks well, nervous through kennel with barking dogs or loud noises. Allowed touch all over, followed handler around. Appeared nervous and stuck close to handler so did not attempt tag or chase games. Did not attempt toys at this time. Appears to know "sit, paw, and come." Go slow. Evaluated Gold for nervousness.(12/31) Vet Staff -- friendly / BAR(12/28) Per previous owner -- Good, quiet, cuddly, likes to play with stuffed toys, affectionate, likes to curl up on the couch, only barks (at home) when he hears strange noises (door, neighbor), good with big and small dogs, used to be good with cats until a cat attacked him, over protective with owner, scared at big things (such as brooms), barky at dogs when on leash, very affectionate, likes to cuddle, smart, knows commands "sit," "down," "leave it," "shake/paw," very smart and very anxious. This animal is currently available through ACCT Philly's Adoptions Programs.
