  There is nothing as heartbreaking as the look of utter betrayal as someone dumps there dog into a shelter. That moment the owner walks away for good and the pup realizes she’s on her own and they are not coming back. This happened to Little Solstice a week ago. Can you even imagine how confused and shattered she must be ???  She was taken in by a Louisiana shelter before coming to Syracuse.  She is a bit shy at first but friendly and is good with other dogs.   Solstice is about 2 years old , loves people and Is good with other dogs at the shelter both male and female. She is spay , UTD on shots and HW negative. She is a Rhodesian ridge back mix. ##555926##

Story
I found Mookie a few months back abandoned in a park. After calling around to local shelter and finding them all full, I decided to keep her under my care. Unfortunately, I know now that Mookie has some unpleasant behavioral issues. She has anxiety (on daily sedative of trazodone) and fear aggression. She must not have been socialized well with humans as a puppy. She often growls and barks at strangers and does not let people get near her. While she is completely sweet with me, I do not think my small apartment is enough for her happiness. She is a very active dog and needs a yard she can run around in. She also needs some proper training, I unfortunately cannot afford to get her the type of trainer she would need, but I believe with proper training and focus she could end up as a really amazing dog. She loves to play, and especially loves being outdoors - hiking, swimming, running.
