Big Red is a super sweet and friendly boy. He loves attention and being pet, and he’ll give you kisses in return. He’ll stay calmly by your side for as long as you’ll pet him. He’s got a lot of love to give! He’s on the calmer side, with a lower energy level. He doesn’t need much exercise to make him happy! He’s great at walking on a leash, and he’s a total gentleman to take out for a walk. He even seems to be potty trained already! He takes treats gently from your hand, but he hasn’t gotten the hang of any tricks yet. He’ll work on it! He does get along well with other dogs, and lived well with them in a previous short term foster home. Big Red is a 2YO Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who came into the shelter as a stray on 7/14/23. He’s currently working on the “big” part of his name and is being fed multiple times a day to get up to a healthier weight.

Leon is a very strong boy with a lot of enthusiasm and gusto. He weighs 52 pounds and is excitable and jumpy. He is friendly with everyone he sees and wants to get to know them. He is affectionate and loves being petted. He was found as a stray and hopes you can offer him a home. We don't know yet if he is house trained but he does seem to know he is supposed to do his business outside. Please be patient if he needs a refresher course. He wants to lead the way while on a leash and does it with determination and eagerness. Try to keep up. He is very active and loves toys and running. He knows the sit command. We don't yet how he will behave around dogs or children. He is curious about and interested in his shelter neighbors and doesn't bark at them but his high-energy playfulness may be too much for calmer dogs. If you have a dog, they need to meet before you adopt him. Since he can be mouthy when he is overstimulated, he'll need to live with kids at least 12 years old. Est DOB: 10/6/2015 Bobby-Brown is a hugger! This handsome brown-eyed boy gets so excited to see his people that he likes to give you a hug as a greeting and lay his head in your lap. He is great on a leash - walks right next you and follows commands. He likes to hang out in the yard and enjoy the outside air. He even took his blanket outside with him! Bobby is house trained (always expect an adjustment period). Bobby is not a fan of crates and likes to hang out where his people are. Bobby has played with other large female dogs in daycare and on play dates - he loves to play for hours! He has met school aged children at events that he was fine with. Bobby was briefly in a home with another dog where he was possessive of the owner. We don’t know what this was due to exactly so we think Bobby may do best in an only dog home. Unfortunately previous owners let him down, because Bobby-Brown is heart worm positive. Please do not rule him out because of it. He is on the slow approach to treatment which is not as hard on the dog as other treatment options you may have heard of. We will provide medication for this treatment approach for FREE! Please consider making this adorable boy a member of your family and contact us to arrange to meet him. $150 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care.
