Story
Meet Simone! Simone is currently enrolled in the P.A.C.K. Program, a 9 week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer, and is almost ready to show off all that she has learned to new adopters. Her new skills include ‘sit', ‘stay', ‘heel', and ‘lay down', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. This lovable girl can best be described as a bull in a china shop. A really cute and lovable bull. The structure in the prison has worked wonders for Simone, but she is still easily excitable and this will be something her adopters will most likely have to continue work on with her. When she gets excited she tends to jump on her people, and can be a little mouthy. Because of this, we do recommend she go to a home with children over the age of 5, or small kids that don't getting knocked down sometimes. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but back to that bull thing - she can be a little rough. So, monitored playtime or an equally rough and tumble dog friend would be best for Simone. She is good with cats, house trained, and crate trained too! Simone is cautious upon meeting new people and may let out an alert bark or two, just to let you know she has your back. She is a strong dog with energy to spare and would make a great addition to an adventurous household. But, after she's had her fill of adventure for the day, she defnitely doesn't mind cuddling with you on the couch! Simone will be graduating the third week of March. If you are ready to add some larger than life silliness to your home, apply to meet her today! If you are not viewing this adoption listing from our website at www.bdar.org, please go there to get more information, find our adoption application, or submit an inquiry. Story
Alex is an 8 year old rescue from Florida. I fostered him and when I was returning him, I was told he was next to be put down. I asked he be placed in Puppies with Prisoners program to be trained. He was and graduated top of class. He is very affectionate, needs attention, loves to play and rarely barks. He is overly sensitive and drinks water as if he will never get more. Something from his last tells me it may have been withheld at some time bad he is scared he won’t have access. Fully house trained. He needs a home that has time for him. I travel now and unfair I can’t be with him. He would do best in one dog home, but he gets along with other animals wonderfully. Very social at dog parks.
