Pearl is a three-year-old domestic medium hair cat on hospice. We need your help to find Pearl a forever home where she can receive all the love and comfort she deserves throughout the remainder of her life. When Pearl arrived at the shelter in January, she was very friendly and affectionate toward our clinic staff, appearing perfectly healthy outwardly. Upon further evaluation, however, our clinic staff noted a significant heart murmur. After being seen by our friends at Virginia Veterinary Specialists for an echocardiogram, Pearl was diagnosed with a Ventricular Septal Defect. This is essentially a hole in her heart, resulting in a shortened lifespan for sweet Pearl. VVS estimates that she will have at most three more years until she goes into heart failure. Until then, Pearl should live a normal life with a family that loves her. Personality-wise, Pearl is as sassy as can be! She loves to chat with her foster family (even at 5AM) and enjoys playing with any and all toys at her disposal. She will need recheck echocardiograms every six to nine months, but we are confident she will remain happy and comfortable through this final leg of her journey. We understand the prospect of adopting a hospice cat may seem daunting, but the unbreakable bond and unconditional love you will get from Pearl will be invaluable. We know that every day with this beautiful girl will be a gift.

Mav is super sweet and likes to come around for snuggles but is not a needy cat. He’s fairly independent even though he sleeps and plays with Bo, his big brother. He’s pretty smart too and often responds to simple commands similar to a dog, probably because he was raised with Bo :). We are REALLY hoping for the most caring family to adopt our two! Ideally our adoptive family would keep in touch for several weeks to let us know how all are adjusting :) Both are on file at Airport Animal Clinic and I have some records at home.
