Story
Breed - Scottish Fold mix - MEDICAL NEEDS Spayed Female Weight - about 6 pounds Estimated Age - 3 years If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out our cat adoption questionnaire at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HTAR/Cat. For questions, email saufenka@yahoo.com. HOW TO MEET THIS CAT: This cat is in a foster home. To meet her, please complete the adoption questionnaire. Note that all cats coming to us from Ukraine are required to have a home visit as part of the adoption process. LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Shana, saufenka@yahoo.com ADOPTION FEE: $275. This fee INCLUDES neuter, vaccines, and microchip. Ask us about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, and other discounts! HOW THIS ANIMAL IS WITH: CATS: Gizmo enjoys playing with other cats and grooming on them, but they must be gentle with her DOGS: Gizmo likes a friendly dog, but they must be gentle with her KIDS: Gizmo is great with kids, but likely best in no small kids who may not understand how to be gentle with her KNOWN LIKES: Lots and lots of cuddles, chasing a wand toy, she's a lap cat, loves belly rubs! KNOWN DISLIKES: Doesn't like having her feet handled too much; she should not walk on slick or hard surfaces and requires lots of carpeting to cushion her feet and avoid pressure sores ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: If you're like us, you take one look in this sweet kitty's face and you melt. Gizmo is as sweet as she is adorable. She makes us laugh as she sits up like a human with legs out and has a hop in her step when she zips around. Gizmo thrives on people attention and cuddles. It's amazing how gentle and loving she is considering everything stacked against her in life. She's good with other cats and with dogs, but humans time makes her especially happy. She's come to us all the way from Ukraine. Life in a country at war is a daily struggle. Imagine being a kitty with clubbed feet who is limited in how fast she can run or jump. Top that off with some breathing issues and tiny ears and you have Gizmo! Gizmo definitely isn't a kitty who can face the struggles of war. Now that we've brought Gizmo to the US and she's seen a vet, we better understand her medical condition and needs. Gizmo has osteochondrodysplasia, this is a disorder most common with over breeding of Scottish Fold cats that creates added bone and cartilage growth. This is progressive and will likely get worse over time. She is now on daily pain medication and may need an anti-inflammatory medication. Gizmo needs an adopter as special as she is. She needs an adopter who is able not just to provide her with a loving home, but financially able to support her ongoing medical needs. Gizmo cannot walk well on wood or other hard floors and should avoid them. She needs lots of carpet and soft surfaces to avoid pressure sores. A smaller home with lots of soft rugs or carpet is ideal. Due to Gizmo's medical needs, she should be adopted by an experienced cat parent who is financially secure to afford higher medical costs. Everyone who meets Gizmo falls in love - she's worth it! As a kitty rescued from Ukraine, we do require a home check as part of the application process and can explain more. HT ADOPTION INCLUDES: Spay/Neuter A series of FVRCP vaccines, rabies vaccine (if old enough), and deworming Microchip - lifetime registration with no fees EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free physical exam with Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care within 30 days of adoption and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) within 14 days of adoption. A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities. BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.

Story
Meet Miss Kitty, a one year old, medium gray and white haired diva girl, who looks as though she is wearing a swim cap. Miss Kitty came to us from a high kill shelter in VA. She is affectionate and, at times, demanding, knowing what she wants and when she wants it - like her canned food in the morning for breakfast - often seeming to be talking as she eats it, "Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum." Ya know how some people need their coffee in the morning before they are sociable? That would be Miss Kitty with her canned food! LOL. She LOVES her canned food, at times, taking the entire can out of your hands and running away with it.This sweet cat has a comical, quirky purrsonality. She will sit with you while you are on the computer, follow you from room to room an talk to you or show her distaste by a mock growl - just to let you know she means business. LOL Miss Kitty is a loyal, companion cat who will keep you laughing with her antics. Don't dare leave any food out - and I mean ANY food. She will eat whatever she can get her paws on - chicken, a slice of pizza, a Rice Krispie square, a potato chip, a leaf from your salad...if it looks like you may be interested in it - she will eat it and destroy the evidence!Kitty has a loving tender side, too. She will sleep in bed with you, she loves to curl up in your lap while you are watching tv or on the computer...she is a gentle soul with a comical, quirky side - a very unique purrsonality!Miss Kitty is spayed, combo tested negative, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. We think she probably prefers to be an only cat or maybe have one other cat, if she gets a lot of one-on-one attention. She would do best in a home with older children, as, at times, she tends to swat at your hand for more petting. Must be an indoor only cat. Give us a hollar if you would like to add some spontaniety and a few laughs to your day. GoodMews22@aol.com

Story
Meet Rebekah, a beautiful soft,medium-haired white and gray haired cat, about 2 -3 years old. Rebekah has one sky blue eye and one green eye, considered to be lucky in some cultures.Rebekah came to us from a local shelter. She was terrified and shelter staff told me she was feral. I told them she was only scared, and on a bet, proved it to them by climbing into the large ground-floor cage with Rebekah to pet her. She warmed up immediately and began to purr. Rebekah came into foster care immediately afterwards.Rebekah is a timid cat, but very sweet. She loves her canned food in the morning, and if you are late in feeding her or (God forbid!) have forgotten, she will let you know with a few quiet meows. She seeks out affection and loves to sit at your desk while you work, or sleep on the bed with you, and is a great comfort when you are sick. Her perfect home would be an indoor only, low activity, quiet home with either no children or older teenagers. Her purrsonality makes her a very loyal companion and she would love to have one human to love. Rebekah is up to date on her vaccines, spayed, tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm. She is also microchipped. If you would like to have this sweet girl as a companion or new family member and change your luck, please email GoodMews22@aol.com or call 540.717.4420.
