Story
We rescued Winston as a puppy from a kill shelter through a non profit rescue. He was found by train tracks with his siblings. Although older at 8yrs he is a fun loving, young at heart dog who loves to be loved! He finds a friend in any animal or person he meets. He has been wonderful with my children since they were born. He is not an alpha male and gets nervous by fireworks and thunder. He is also not comfortable with water (hose, ocean, pool) but will tolerate a bath. I’ve had him professionally groomed and his nervous non aggressive nature makes him a favorite to care for. This also applies at the vet and in the car. He would do best in a home with a friend to play with or an owner who enjoys regular walks and games of fetch. He has a young spirit and sooo much love still to give.

Story
Monty (previously Stanton) is a 2 year old Chinese Shar-Pei/Terrier Mix. He is an incredibly sweet and loving boy, who just wants to play all day. He was recently adopted from the Providence Animal Shelter in Media, PA. He’s up to date on all of his vaccinations, neutered, and has been recently treated for fleas. If possible, I would keep him because he’s a such a sweet, loving boy and anyone can tell that he wants to be a good dog. Unfortunately, Monty is very hyperactive, and also has a tendency to be a bit mouthy during play. He also is not fully crate-trained (though improving very quickly since we adopted him). I’ve unfortunately come to the conclusion that my long work schedule (55+ hrs/week) is going to prevent me from giving Monty the love, attention, and focus he needs to be the best doggie that he can be.

Story
Tiny started out a little timid but has blossomed into a snort snuffelapagus! He was found as a stray in the park, and described as friendly, scared and playful. While with us, he was a bit overwhelmed in the kennels (understandably!) but was moved into an office and has shown himself to be a goofball. He loves to play and will do a not so graceful leap when you toss a toy for him. He's curious and will sniff out a snack wherever you have it, but is a little picky so often spits it out, he just wants to know he CAN have it if he wants it. He will sit but it will take a minute as he's very easily distracted. He's young and will need some training, as he can get a little excited and will jump up enthusiastically, but for that reason we think he'd be best set up for success in a home with older kids. When left alone in the office he is not destructive, and he also walks nicely on a leash (though we can't guarantee it's in a straight line!). Behavioral notes; 5/5 went into my office, he had been in there for a night and didn't know me, but sniffed me and then pounced on the dog bed, and came back up to me wagging his whole body. During the day he was good, he solicited pets with me and I pet him all over without issue though his ears obviously bother him as he yelped when I tried to itch them for him. A female staffer came into my office, and he try to hump her leg. I told him no and he tried to hump her leg from behind (as though I wouldn't see him or something). He didn't really respond to no, but I pushed him off and he tried again a few times. He was determined, but would distract for a minute or two when I called him over with a toy. Volunteer noted 5/3 Tiny Big Brown was easy to leash and remove from his kennel. He looks to be in pretty good shape - healthy weight and a nice coat. He spent most of our outside time sniffing around the yard. I jokingly said to another volunteer that if I didn't know better I'd say he was part bloodhound rather than part shar pei. He wasn't interested in balls, toys, or treats. Each dog handles being in a shelter differently, and I think he is still adjusting. TBB didn't solicit pets from me, but eventually he did sit so I was able to pet him, and he was fine accepting the pets. No issue returning him to kennel.

Story
Observations with Children and Other Animals: I'm pretty selective of my puppy friends, but I seem to gravitate towards more laid back dogs. I prefer children who are 12 years or older; they are more fun to play with!Additional Information: Since you are reading this, you're obviously looking for a new best friend - and, hey, so am I! I don't care how old you are or what you look like, but in case that matters to you, I am approximately 6 years old and have a mostly black coat, with dark auburn patches on my shoulders! My perfect match would be someone who leads a calmer lifestyle and can appreciate a afternoon nap! I'd also love to have a fenced in yard to run around in! When I'm not napping I do enjoy taking long walks with my people, especially if its in a new spot with all new smells! I'm also a big fan of car rides and will ride perfectly next to you. Even though I'm 6 years old I still have some pep in my step, and will have playful bursts of energy every so often. So what do you say? Wanna be besties?Current on vaccinations. Story
This beautiful and sweet young girl is Mylah. She is a 2-year old pooch, who weighs 45 pounds. Mylah has a lovely coat of black and white, which thrills us at Mostly Muttz Rescue, as she came to the shelter at just 27 pounds with no hair at all. After several months in foster care, she is a healthy weight and her hair has grown back.  While we always knew she was beautiful, we are now amazed to see just how gorgeous she has become. Mylah is in foster care with other dogs both big and small and she loves to play the day away with them. She is also leash and crate trained.  Because Mylah was food deprived before she came to the shelter, she prefers to eat in her own space without other dogs around. But she does not miss a beat in the area of happiness. Do you think your home might be the place for Mylah? You can apply to adopt Mylah at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  ##400292##
