He had been there the longest with little to no attention. Chip was picked up frolicking with his BFF a little blue "Pit mix" however without alerting anyone and giving anyone a chance to save his friend named Fletch was killed. Obviously we were heartbroken for Fletch but also for Chip! We couldn't allow the same thing to happen to him. Unfortunately no foster could be found no matter how many people searched or posted. We were down to the wire with Chip facing immediate death when an amazing sponsor spoke up to help with boarding costs but that was super short lived. Knowing Chips extended stay in the shelter we felt that a rover.com sitter may be a better route to go so he could be in a home. Unfortunately his sitter wasn't a good fit, she had taken on too many dogs, had fed him grapes and wasn't able to help with potty training or anything like that, we were super concerned for his wellbeing. Chip went to boarding, he has done exceptionally well and is officially house trained and working on commands. We are PRAYING that we can find a temporary foster for this lug or an adoptive home so we can move him into an environment where he will thrive and move on from losing his best friend, his long stay in the shelter and the shuffle from Rover.com sitter to boarding where he has been since. Located in Anna TX This is Alden previously known as Brutus. Alden's story, like so many amazing dogs, is epically sad. Alden came from an irresponsible backyard breeder. After being passed around and not well cared for Alden ended up abandoned and endured the unimaginable. His owner moved and left him behind. But his owner didnt take him to a shelter. He didnt drop him off in a vacant lot. He left him locked up in their townhome and left. No food or water and just left and didn't come back for an entire month. Alden, starving, tried helplessly to escape. Neighbors reported hearing him cry all throughout the night but due to fear of Alden's previous owner unfortunately no one intervened. Word spread and finally reached a rescuer and without any hesitation the plan to save Alden went into action. Alden was finally out of his horrific deplorable living conditions. However he ended up in a high kill shelter in Garland. Despite volunteers sharing his story all over and thousands of shares he sat in the shelter day after day and finally he was urgent and still nothing. No one willing to help him. He was going to die and we couldn't allow it to happen, so we had some amazing people offer to sponsor weeks of boarding. Some others pledged funds for his vetting. Alden is EXTREMELY loveable, he is kid and dog friendly and knows the "sit" command. He loves loves loves to snuggle and thats all despite what has been done to him and what he has been through. Alden is extremely special as he is a littermate to a sweet boy named Truman who was abused and neglected and succumbed to his injuries today 3/24/19. Alden and Truman didn't live together however both lived cruel and neglectful lives and came from the same litter.
