We always say that Max is just a big baby. He has a loud bark, but he’ll be hiding behind you because he’s scared of everything. He loves our cat, but the cat hates him. He loves other dogs to run and play with. He is the most well behaved dog I’ve ever seen. The only trick he doesn’t know is roll over. He has been trained to an invisible fence recently, but he never really needed it. We lived on a very busy road and he always stayed in the back yard without a fence. He is good on a leash, will pull sometimes, but listens when you tell him to stop. He doesn’t eat people food. He loves kids. He absolutely loves running outside and playing fetch, but we don’t have any time to play with him anymore.

Story
Tilly needs a home with someone who is experienced with behavioral issues and/or has the funds to get training for her. Unfortunately I do not have the money to get a trainer or the skills to correct her myself. Her bad behaviors: Chases and barks at the cats in the home. Wants to chase any cat she sees. Pulls on her leash. Lunges and sometimes growls at people. Especially anyone on a bike or running. Will not respond to treats or verbal cues once she is distracted. Has exhibited some possessive aggression if the cats get near her treats or food. Sometimes growls and bites when nails are clipped, teeth are cleaned or you move her when she doesnt want you to. Tilly has the potential to be a sweet, amazing dog but I am in over my head. I researched her breed extensively and from my findings it seemed like she would be fairly easy to train. But it seems as though she inherited a great deal of the Shar Pei personality and is therefore thick headed and VERY stubborn.

Story
Tilly is a 1 year old Shar Pei/Cocker Spaniel mix. I believe she is now due for her next round of vaccinations but she is spayed. I adopted her 6 months ago from a person who could not keep her due to apartment restrictions. During her time with me she has made huge strides in training but definitely still needs to work on her manners when on a leash. Tilly had been raised with a cat but I would suggest she go to a home without cats due to exhibiting some prey drive/aggression now that she is living with 3 cats. She has never been tested with small children or other dogs and I, personally, would not suggest she be around small children just due to her play biting. Tilly loves to walk and can totally keep up on hikes as long as it is not too awfully hot outside. At night I let Tilly sleep with me on the bed but I believe she could be crate trained if that is your preference. She loves to cuddle as well!
